she should consider herself lucky - from her on going forward it will be 90+ hours - whether she likes it or not.

Question for the big brains: The other day my FO was asking lots of questions on a particularly long and boring flight, and I haven’t been able to find a reference/answer for this one.

They did a ferry recently and their CA showed up in biz cas instead of uniform, and he just rolled with it because that’s what you do as a new FO. On day 1 he asked me if that was actually approved, and I said “yeah I think so,” but I always like to cite my sources (especially since I had no idea where that was actually written down).

I have hunted all over the FOM PPM SOPM Indoc slides and every other document I can think of, to no avail. I swear my Indoc instructor even went on a whole sidebar about how it’s so cool and how one time they got to list their family on the manifest for a 91 repo etc. I’ve also been rescued by un-uniformed crew before, so I’ve seen it with my own eyes. And I’ve seen pics of our new aircraft delivery ferries where they’re dressed down.

Anyway so is this an actual standard practice written down somewhere, or has it just “always been like that” with a blind eye turned?

sincerely, Bored on a 3hr sit

The non-rev benefits are base-specific. A whole lot more bases got expanded non-rev benefits with the recent changed to mixed-pairing lines. The answer is "they will probably get AA benefits", but a more specific answer than that would require you to know the actual base and aircraft.

Can anybody confirm that an FO new hire does not need to be instrument legal coming into training? I foolishly let my currency lapse. I have been studying up and shooting practice approaches with a safety pilot in preparation for regional interviews, however I have not had access to a CFII to give me an IPC. Is this something that I need to worry about?

I believe that is not an issue. But easiest way to find out is to talk to your recruiter.

You can get yourself instrument current. In fact, you can do it in a sim (certified of course) without a CFI.

Not if he's fully lapsed and needs an IPC, as he mentioned
