Yeah you can't upgrade that quickly unless you have previous 121 time. There are plenty of FOs that spend their whole time right seat on the west coast, never seeing the weather of the Midwest/east coast who then upgrade out that direction. There's a learning curve but it doesn't take long to get up to speed. It really doesn't matter what experience you've had as an FO, you will see things as a new captain that never even dawned on you before.

Hi folks! Does anyone have any insight as to what equipment and base new classes are getting generally? The OP is good info but I’m wondering If I come in with over 1000 hours of 121 but get aircraft type A and the first available upgrade for me is on aircraft type B, will I be allowed to switch over or am I seat locked?

Thanks!

Thanks!

You choose your equipment during your interview. junior bases LGA ERJ, and DTW CRJ.

Is it reasonable to go the CRJ route to start, fly the CRJ as a CA for 2-3 years, then transition to a CA spot in the ERJ? Does your CA seniority reset when you switch airframe?

======================================

Will this development possibly have an effect of also dropping the time spent on reserve as a new Capt. in DTW/MSP, until they are able to hold a hard line?

Guessing here, but maybe 1 year on reserve as Capt. until one can hold a scheduled hard line, which hopefully would provide the opportunity of 1 or 2 more days off each month?

Also, any chance this growth could also lower the time to upgrade in other bases such as Atlanta? Roughly the same time frame I would presume, give or take a month or so?

Thanks, AU

Where on SWOL can you see the latest CA awards? That means its someone in my class and I can't imagine being ready to upgrade by now. All of us have had barely two months on the line as reserves at this point.
