not mine. And ST is a knowledge bully. Likes to be all tough and “watch what I know”. Who cares. There’s a reason he’s a lifer. His personality is god awful and condescending. I’ve run businesses. I’d never retain an arrogant guy like him.

If you're planning on throwing a 70 yard hail-mary to Santa Claus, that could be awkward. Whatever else you do, don't cry.

domino there is a reason he is a lifer ?? I absolutely love when regional guys say this about their own as if it is somehow lesser on the social scale. Could the reason perhaps be that he is fat and happy with his QOL making well over 6 figures ?
ST some years ago when I was at SkyWest did my ATP on the CRJ when the rules changed and all FOs had to get their full types and ATPs on their next recurrent ride.
He is a very knowledgeable instructor and good guy. You show up prepared knowing your stuff you should know and knowing where to find (ish) all the less important stuff combined with a good attitude and willingness to learn you’ll be fine. Soon as he can smell you put it the work he will teach you stuff and you will walk away a more knowledgeable professional.
Now, you show up unprepared thinking it will be fine .. He will eat you alive as he should. It’s your job as a professional pilot to show up prepared. Most stories over the years about him being a this or a that is all from people who didn’t put in any work.
You do enough type and check rides over the years though you shouldn’t be worried anymore. You know what is expected of you. Study show up prepared with a good attitude and you’ll be fine. He knows what you need to know and pushes some buttons to see if there is more knowledge there. When he finds your bottom he will teach you. Like any good airline instructor does.
I loved flying the CRJ and loved flying the 175.
Now I do remember a story though where (pre scripted AQP environment..) this student shows up with ST for his upgrade oral and ST goes ... “exactly how long is the escape rope ? “ to which the student answered ... “long enough to get out of the ******ing airplane “ 😁😁😁. Rest of his ride went flawless. I don’t care who you are, that’s funny stuff right there.

Even broaching that question is moronic at any threat level.
Grading is subjective though they do their best to be objective. So as we have people who should have been put into ST, then it is also true we have people entered into ST unfairly. Anyone who cannot or will not calibrate their grading must be returned to the line. Period. End of conversation.

CQ and training events are all done within strict guidelines all approved by the company/FAA. Asking unusual off the cuff or "unnecessary" questions if you will, is fine in my book when its non punitive but when these questions end up putting a pilot in special tracking then there is a problem with the individual asking them.
If someone goes to CQ and doesn't know their basic limitations etc...well clearly thats not good enough. But being asked the birthdate of the second uncle of the guy who designed the seat cushion is a little overboard despite all best intentions to "teach"

THIS. How many rivets are in the wing? How many parts per billion is the atmosphere at X feet? What is the length width and height of the airplane? What is a differential fault? why do they call me captain KVAR? I am a molecule of air...NO YOU ARE NOT.
