SkyWest Union
I agree with you it is time to move on, I think that if previous SkyWest pilots had the mindset of building something we wouldn’t be making less than Mesa. A union would give us at least someone who is on our side, and for me it’s just about us; because anyone can leave right now. It feels gross when the same people who are supposed to be on our side (SAPA) are just a mouthpiece for management. Why is every single email from them lower your expectations? Why do we want SkyWest to be a 6 month-1 year destination before moving to LCC’s? SkyWest could fix this staffing issue if they wanted, it’s not a secret what fixes things. We literally have been screaming about what we want every day in every possible outlet for years now.

Y’all need to learn how to read your FAR’s…
You’re missing the “or”
(1) Of a turbojet airplane, of an airplane having a passenger-seat configuration, excluding each crewmember seat, of 10 seats or more, or of a multiengine airplane in a commuter operation as defined in part 119 of this chapter, unless that person holds an airline transport pilot certificate with appropriate category and class ratings and, if required, an appropriate type rating for that airplane.
These are the things that need an ATP under part 135
-Any turbojet aircraft (any amount of seats)
-Any aircraft with 10 or more seats
-Any multi engine aircraft operating in a 119 commuter operation

You're right, I didn't think into it enough. I was thinking about the Cape Air type operation (piston) and didn't think about it farther down into the regs with the CRJs.

The good news is that we're well beyond the post-deregulation reckoning and transition. Most majors are probably too big to fail right now, baring some epic catastrophe. We already pressed-to-test on that in 2020.

It is a way for Skywest to outsource CRJ pilots' jobs to less qualified, lower paid pilots. Skywest planes on Skywest routes should be flown by Skywest 121 pilots. This is just a way for management to pay its pilots a lot less than they deserve. And now they can say they've "solved" the pilot crisis so Envoy/PSA/Piedmont payscales are unnecessary. We'll get stuck with a $5 raise and like it!

why even pay the captains that much, they can plop a wet ATP and a wet commercial together. Pay the captain a little more than they pay current FOS and they would have takers. This will also help built peoples 1000 121sic /135 Capt Time so they can be a captain on the 121 side which is where they are hurting.
