Thanks, that was kind of what I was thinking. I've heard commuting on reserve isn't exactly a fun time. I'm assuming it's ORD and MSP where you'll get a line the quickest?

We've been so short on pilots some domiciles won't have any reserves for a while. You'll be a line holder nearly immediately in MSP. The thing to do is delay transferring somewhere until you can hold a line there.

That said, being a junior line holder might mean a schedule of low paying locals or split duties.

Which bases would be best besides MSP to get of reserve. What about IAH, I'm keen on going there?

Iah is pretty good you'd probably get off reserve in about 3 to 4 months. Maybe 6 if you're unlucky. I've seen one 4 day trip that paid 17hrS. Most trips pay around 20 to 22 a 4 day. So the flying is nice.

Sounds good. All CRJ 7/9 flying I believe at IAH as well.

SFO, MSP, SLC, ORD, and DEN are the bases I know of that have minimal to no reserves.

I don't know what bid pack you are looking at but Iah has a ton of 16 hour 4-days

Any thoughts on IAH as a base yourself personally?

Reserve sucks. Commuting to reserve sucks worse. SkyWest reserve is a special little hell on earth that will make you wonder why you worked so hard to become a pilot and if the truck driving school is still taking applications.

The good news is the reserve re-write is just around the corner. (Clarification that was sarcasm. We have been hearing that line for about 5 years now) Our Dixie IT team has just finished our QOL changing Sched+ Mobile and I am sure that is next in line. Or we are just waiting to have reserves to pick up the reserve proffering. I get all the excuses mixed up.
