Because pilots are dumb enough to choose an airline based on where they want to live. SLC has shrunk almost in half. You may get in there, but it won't be in a month and you will be junior FOREVER!!!! Most Junior Captain is something like 11 or 12 years. Some SLC FO's would be super senior CA at some of the east coast domiciles.

Why else would you pick a regional? There's no long term guarantee, but planning on being at a regional long term is also a bad idea.

If you're going to get your PIC and get out (highly recommended) then upgrade time and domicile locations are the key factors.

Hindsight, I should not have waited to get the 1,000 hours to apply at SW and should have taken the first gig that was offered. It has been nothing but downhill since I started and amazingly enough it was right around the time CC took over.

Apps are out but there is no guarantee. Just sad to think about how far SW has fallen from the glory days. At least both my bids gave me 100 hours this month. So I have that going for me... which is nice.
