The ORD 175 FO list is about a 150 long. #50 on in was hired less than 14 months ago. So 2/3rds of the list have been here less than a year. It's going to take a long time for anyone hired onto the bottom of that list to move up. (those hired into that seat 8-12 months ago got really lucky.) The additional UA 175s are going into DEN I think.

The ORD CRJ FO list is about 170 pilots. 40 of them could hold captain now. The next 40 are senior to a good portion of the 175 FOs there. The bottom 80-90 all have been hired in the past year or so as well.

For someone getting hired right now into ORD the CRJ should provide a little better movement. That assumes the CRJ/175 staffing stays the same. If we get more 175s and park CRJs...

Yeah,
10 years ago it was turbojet over turboprop, this year it's underwing over fuselage, next year it will be whatever the next gadget thing.
Reality, you will be flying a regional jet for 6-10 years(on average), I have seen EMB120 guys get hired over ERJ guys and CRJ guys hired in between. But since you have cracked the "code" keep on keepin on....

Looking forward to the Oct class.
You spoke to a "lady on the phone", enjoy your shiny jet, and being junior to the CRJ guys when their planes are parked, they will just bid over to the 175 and push you back. You are seat locked for 2 years, look at your shoulder, because that's your seniority direction.

I know there are a lot of older questions about this but couldn't find anything within the last year and from skywest pilots. I am buying my luggage and decided on the kirkland bag (just can't justify spending the $300+ on a LW or strongbag) but what else should I look at picking up?

I've heard of flight cases, but skywest has ship sets so are those needed? Coolers, what do you recommend? where do you put your headset?

No flight case is needed. You can find good coolers at Costco/Sams Club etc. that are generally cheaper then aviation specific coolers you'd see from LW or TravelPro.

No flight case needed. As for a cooler, I use the one from eBags. And as for my headset, my Bose goes into my main rollaboard until I'm on the airplane.

It's not excitement. I really don't see how Arkansas to California is a regional route. That was my point.
