Don't forget skywest has poor health insurance and a low 401k match. Even if you demand QX rates, you will still be cheaper. Don't buy managements BS, demand what your worth and not a penny less. They will pay you out of fear of skywest unionizing! If only you would.

Incorrect... Sort of... Family of four under united healthcare ppo pays $336 month. 401k is 100% match up to 6%. Profit sharing, stock options add +$1000 to your pocket each year too.

They will be "cheaper" because they are efficient in many different areas. Crew compensation is not one of them. SW is not the best paid, but among the best paid...

Again incorrect.
Its funny how some are always trying to make it better sounding than it really is. Stock Options, have you even been here long enough to have received the last one that was given out? The last one we received was in 07 and had a 3 year vesting period. Stock options are not adding yearly income to our pay checks.

The financial rewards use to net me an extra 4000$ a year, now I'm lucking to see 1200 before taxes. Our overall compensation has taken a HUGE hit the last three years, and if you are not mad about that you NEED your head checked.

They stopped stock options a while ago. It is now a stock grant. I got something like 38 shares in 2007 or 2008, whenever the last one was. When it vested I got about $400 out of it.

The stock purchase plan we used to have was an awesome deal. I don't even participate anymore.

SkyWest's compensation is pretty much middle of the road as far as regionals go.

Get your time and leave for a real airline when you can. Why waste your tune trying to fix something that can't be. If you get higher pay and better bennies gojets will get more flying. Only the lifers should be mad and only at their bad decisions.

The point is, it's not awful health insurance or 401k match. It's not as good as my fireman brother in law's health insurance but it's not the crap a lot of companies offer. And the 401k is near the top as far as matching in concerned.

It's true the overall compensation is down (I believe PBS is mostly to blame for this) and the stock option/grant/purchase plan are not worth mentioning as compensation.

The 401K in nowhere near "the top"! Perhaps you've heard of Continental Express, the company Skywest Inc. purchased??? I believe their 401K match is more than double ours at 12 and 1/2 %....

It's not awful for a private company, but that's not saying much...public sector employers generally do better than private. I have a family member who is always complaining that she's under paid at her public non-profit job, but then I remind her about the 25% tax-free contribution to her retirement account. Yes 25% and that's not a match. That's 25% of base pay...30 years of that might leave you enough to actually retire on.
