Wow. While I consider myself to be a great optimist, this is just plain impossible. We may drop just below 3 years, but if we do, it won't last very long.

They have to compete with the regional feed that actually upgrades people in those times. So it's easy to lie to do that.

Yes, January 2013. So next year we hit that.

That data is easy to find so I don't know why they're lying about it. Maybe they don't understand how social media works. In the past upgrade times dropped down to 3 years 8 months around August 2015, then there were no upgrades for 2 months. After that the upgrades have gone senior and risen back up to about 4 years 1 month.

If you account for the 8 month gap in hiring in 2013 it's possible that upgrade times could drop to about 3-3.5 years if they keep up with the current pace of upgrades. Another problem moving forward though is that the class sizes have been 60-80 per month for a few years now. To get it to even drop to 3 years they would have to upgrade at least that many per month.

To drop upgrade to 2 years it seems like they would have to upgrade 100+ per month and I don't think the training center even has that capacity. Maybe my math is off but due to the 80/month class sizes I don't see upgrade falling below 3.5 years. It could actually start rising again if they're only upgrading 20 per month when class sizes are 80.

Is there a way to trade reserve days with another pilot? Or just swap a reserve day and an off day on my schedule. Need a particular day off in February.

That my friend is where you use a platinum day....

You can swap but you have to find the person to swap with and call crew support. Then they will do it if they feel like it

If there's coverage CS will let you move your reserve days around.

Correct. I wasn't able to bid though. Assigned a schedule after completing training yesterday, bear with my naivity. Where might I see the list of reserves available to swap? Thanks.

And not that I would make a habit out of it, but I hear using sick days at skw is frowned upon?

Agreed, impossible unless we grow 20+ percent, which isn't going to happen.

The upgrades that came out yesterday have an average over 6 years, with 12 of the 32 awarded being hired during 2007 or earlier. And with every upgrade there is, there will be a certain percentage that won't leave SkyWest. Thus, the lifer pool percentage increases and average upgrades over time will increase.
