You're not. I started IOE two days after my type ride though so planning ahead is a good idea. They send you home from training with all of your jepps so have some room in your suitcase or an extra bag.

I thought they had ship sets.

Will your IOE be done where you will be based or another location?

The RJ has ship sets the EMB 120 does not.

IOE is most likely done where you are based but there are some exceptions

Only the RJ has Airside, on the Bro you still carry your own.

They try to schedule your IOE out of your domicile but let’s say you get based in SFO but live in SLC; they’ll try to be accommodating and schedule at least one trip out of SLC and one out of SFO. Keep in mind, if they're training a lot of pilots it might be hard for them to schedule your IOE out of your domicile or where you live; in this case they'll schedule you in the next available slot wherever that may be.

My recent RJ transition class ended up all over the place for IOE. I did an MSP trip and a DEN trip despite not being based in either. They had someone else based in ORD do a FAT trip with 2 deadheads each direction. One guy in my class who was LA based even got a SEA trip.

They'll try to give you IOE in domicile but it depends on check airman availability.

Quick question I hope someone can answer. On the FO job posting on the website it lists 1500 tt as the minimum but also says qualifying restricted ATP, what does it mean by that? Has anyone been getting hired with less than 1500 with the restricted ATP or do they still have more applicants than needed that meet the non-restricted mins?

I think it's just a typo. We asked that question when I was in training recently and the training department said they would accept people with restricted ATPs.

Excellent news, thank you! I'll be applying the day I meet the R-ATP minimums. Any ideas as to which aircraft will have the greatest need come the new year?

It seems hit or miss. The only general rule is that if you have prior turbine or 121 time you're a bit more likely to start on the CRJ. CFIs tend to start on the Brasilia. That's not a hard rule though. My room mate when I was a CFI started on the CRJ and I got the brasilia. When you're hired you can try requesting either one too. They're especially willing to let people switch who actually want to be on the brasilia.
