Is this the standard way (Email) SkyWest offers a position after a successful interview (vs. Telephone contact, Snail Mail, etc.)?
Is the offer usually extended within a day or two such as this one, or does it sometimes go for weeks before some correspondence is received.
Thanks in advance!

They usually send out thanks but no thanks emails within a few days. The job offers can be email or phone called, and it can be from the day of interview to weeks later. I called after 10 days just to check.

X2, I got the email with an offer exactly a week later.. Others have been called next day, others have been hired on the spot. YMMV. Don't sweat it!

I should have stated this question was poised on behalf of a young friend, that interviewed last Tuesday (July 1st).

I'm an old retired Buzzard from a Cargo/Package Delivery Company that likes Brown Airplanes.

Anyway, this sounds pretty encouraging from what the 2 most recent commenters have said.

I think the calendar is extended because there pretty much was only one more business day last week, before 4th of July kicked in, so I'm guessing answers are delayed for a few extra days.

The Young friend felt pretty OK about things and we'll just have to see how it goes from there.

Thanks for everyones input.

Classes start usually the last week of every month. If you interview within 2 weeks of the start date, they will let you know the day of the interview. Otherwise it's anywhere from same day to 2 weeks.

Good stuff. I'm sure he'll have no problem. Usually if you get a good feel from interviews you did pretty well, especially SkyWest. They're all top notch people and super straight forward.

Is Skywest still planning to take those Mitsubishi RJ's? Have any actually been built/test flown yet? What part of the fleet are they intended to replace?

Presumably they'll replace CRJs as they age out. Also "widebody" RJs are all the rage now since pax hate the narrow ones, so you could see even some newer 700/900s replaced with ERJ/MRJ. Despite the fact that narrow = less drag and less fuel burn.

MRJ are still on order as far as I know, as are a whole bunch of ERJ's. But that kind of order is not really firm...it gives the "purchaser" a place in line for production slots but they can probably cancel as needed with little or no penalty. SKW has nothing to lose by placing those orders...it will help them win new business, and if they don't win any new business they'll be bankrupt in a few years anyway as their current long-term contracts all expire.
