Seems like a lot of e175 movement...I chose the CRJ for domicile flexibility. Was it a wrong choice?

CRJ is better choice for domiciles and more so trip availability. Theres very few locals, two days and three days on the 175 and very few destinations/ variety in trips. Furthermore you don't get Delta flight benefits on the 175 and they are in my opinion far superior for international business travel than the others with regards to cost.

Im sorry should I be hoping another regional gets the flying that Alaska feels they need to outsource to be cost competitive on routes? Every regional pilot that wants to move on to mainline wishes mainline to take back their flying, that being said regionals are here to stay so if flying will be outsourced everyone hopes it goes to their regional so they can get their time and get out. Alaska pilots need to get a scope clause in place, operating in good faith that the company won't outsource will get them burnt. Its the CEOs etc etc job to make the most profit for stakeholders and so they will always look to save costs and unfortunately outsourcing is one of those ways.

Hmmm, where have I heard that before but with a different business decision other than "outsource"?

Im not saying the situation (regional airlines existence) is good or beneficial to any pilot, I am saying its a part of our world that is likely to remain that way for the foreseeable future. If flying is offered to the regional world through RFPs then anyone at a regional hopes it comes to their company to allow for career progression, of course if mainline pilots keep giving their flying away that career progression might never be realized.

Knowing Nevets he's probably not talking about the majors. He's referring to Skywest not having a union and trusting that our management won't screw us on good faith. They would have every right to do whatever they want since we have no contract. It sounds like they do whatever they want to XJT even with a contract anyway though.

So tell me about ORD. (Just got that base out of training.) I know it's all United flying, but...

> Aircraft: Mostly -200s for the junior guys, or is it more of a mix?

> Routes: mostly 4-day trips with 5/6-leg days, or more of a mix?

> Commutability from SFO/OAK/SJC: Seems pretty good (I hope) out of SFO with 20+ flights per day. How have others found that commute?

With all the movement happening, I'm wondering how long it will take to get SFO. (Seeing as how I live 30 minutes from the airport.) Fingers crossed...

Nope. But you should know the name of the airline on the side of the plane you fly. But then again, you don't care that the rest of us get dragged down by skywest benefits and work rules. How's that decade to get to a 6% 401k match? Don't expect the rest of to care to much as compass does the same to you.

You'll gain a lot of experience in ORD, I was based there for 4 months and enjoyed it (primarily West Coast previously). It's mostly UA with some AA flying. It took me 6 months from doh to get back to the West Coast & 10 months from doh to my preferred domicile. It was mainly -200, but I got some sweet -700 trips (reserve) as well! Enjoy it!
