That'd be nice if that came soon. They're seriously lagging behind in first year pay compared to several other carriers.

It's still a joke but they raised 1st year pay to 24/hr a few months ago.

Bonuses for new hires at any carrier make me mad. Rather than giving all of the pilots a pay raise they clearly deserve if we're understaffed they try to sweeten the deal for people who only look at year 1 pay and don't think long term. Also bonuses can be given or taken away by the companies at will without adjusting pay scales or contracts.

I wish they'd just fix the pay scale instead.

Upgrades and the 175 shaking things up a bit. Really junior people getting SEA, LAX and SFO.

IAH, COS and DEN going to people barely done with SIM.

And the most junior CRJ upgrade is finally under 7 years. Just barely less than 7, but hey, it's going in the right direction. It should be getting close to that big gap in hiring soon shouldn't it?

The most junior upgrade just awarded is only 99 numbers away from a December 2010 hire. There are hardly any pilot numbers between 34,000 and 39,000. At the current pace of upgrades it looks like we're 4-5 months away from 2011 hire captains.

I know there's quite a few 2011 hire guys, isn't there a few other (but not as large) breaks in hiring in there leading up to the start of this most recent wave?

There was another break Summer 2012 until about Spring 2013. I know that one well because I was moving up on reserve fast and then suddenly stalled right at the top of reserve bottom of the line holder range for about 8 months before I moved a single number again.

There are a lot of pilots hired between 01/2011 and the start of that break though so it's not going to hit that gap for a few years.

Been keeping spreadsheets since hired almost a year ago, and IF everything keeps marching along, the upgrad will drop to 2.7 years for early 2014 hires.

The cool thing is IF the economy takes another $#!T, SKW hasn't ever furloughed in it's 42 year history and is probably the best place to be in a recession IMHO.

This would be great news for many. Not doubting you but would you care to share your math and logic?
