Add many airlines to the list, very few airlines don't have the same problems. What needs to be remembered, Least Common Denominator, the trend is for corporations to take, they have the tools, resources, and will. What happens at one airline is just a few moments away for another. We on the other hand have something that they cannot easily replace.

Sure, it's utopian - but to start pilots actually start paying attention to their careers and not voting only thinking of themselves. The apathy at OO is strong, but other places as well. Even if you don't like your union (or lack thereof) participating, seeing the big picture, taking the long view and having a voice is key.

Then we figure out a national seniority list and unionize every 121 pilot.

See? Easy!

When I upgraded I had 150 hours of user time and 160 of vacation. Scheduling would work with you to get a day or round trip off. ESPP was a 15% discount and I made lots of scratch, I paid my property taxes and house insurance with the profits. This list could go on for 2-3 union drives, easy. Ask a senior guy, the list will go from SFO to DFW easy. SKYW mgmt can't fathom why 12-15 year guys are slowly leaving or quitting outright. SKYW is rapidly becoming everything that they were proud of not being. The first step in regaining some trust from the pilots would be to drop Anita into Cherynobyl of Fukishima in her underwear. Unfortunately it would just probably enhance her evil powers. She is personally responsible for mor pilot misery than any human in the industry, including Frank Lorenzo. The icing on the cake, my first quartlerly captain bonus check was huge, I thought it was a mistake.
I do not believe they have any concern about a 12-15 year pilot leaving. They probably prefer it. You'll be replaced with a 4 year Captain at a much lower rate. Perhaps that is the intent?

That was the old intent. SKYW had in years past sais that they had the pick of the litter, with 4000 resumes. Heard from a highly placed Training Dept pilot as to why Camille was canned, she would not hire the "Do Not Hire" list pilots, T.G. Has since overridden the list and they are eligible for hire. Shane L. told me personally that SKYW cannot afford to lose any pilots. The significance of a senior pilot leaving is huge, it means that someone who has a lot invested and a lot to lose is saying "it's no longer worth it" it doesn't take a Harvard degree to realize a 30 something pilot, with 4 years on property, is chomping at the bit to move along to a major. When a 10 year Captain leaves he is electing to take a paycut, no matter where he goes, a 4 year F/O is getting a pay raise.

I'm just making the same point as you, although not being descriptive enough. What I'm saying is that JA is just as bad as JO. It's a matter of perspective. You and I have different perspective yet you compare one management more favorably than another and I don't. They both suck.

Well, you need to start by certifying SAPA as your NMB recognized bargaining agent. Until then, it's just words. And that is a lot easier than the utopia you described. But it is a must if you even want to contribute to protecting these jobs.

Well...duh.

It's far more than words actually, but you wouldn't know that since we don't know each other. Have you volunteered for your union?
