It's simple, to get you guys to see the light of day and up your standards. You guys have 4500+ pilots and some great bases. I want SkyWest to help up the game for everyone. It's a competitive pilots market. If you guys are recruiting enough to hurt our recruiting, the company comes to us with more money. Ever hear the expression "A rising tide lifts all ships"? A lot of pilot groups are enjoying that. You guys come along and bored holes in our hulls by accepting such a lousy package.
This is all you have and it is painfully obvious.

Sorry but this is not only brutal but it implies that SkyWest won’t turn around and fire guys for missing a commute. It’s also compounded by the fact we have no commuting policy and SFO is notoriously bad for commuters when you consider flow.

Few airlines are in a position to be commute nazis... they know they don't want to pay a living wage in major hubs. Otherwise they would just require that you live within 5 miles of the airport center point.

SKW never disciplined anyone for reasonable missed commutes, unless that's changed recently. The SKW non-policy was better than most other official policies (I had a room-mate at ASA, he had to use FMLA every time he missed a 4-day).

No, I've been here only a couple years. I was fortunate enough to time it at the beginning of the wave. There's no excuse for not doing everything we can to elevate our profession. Do it for yourselves, and those that will come in after us. Just because you had to walk to school uphill both ways doesn't mean the next generation shouldn't be able to ride the bus.
