How did SkyWest change the reserve rules recently?

They realized they could exploit reserves even more through loop holes in our PPM. And in order to increase profits they, via SAPA, brought out a new policy called "proffering" Which no one at the company, SAPA or on the line even knows what that means. I think it's an extension for "Pro Offer". As in being a Professional at Offering up your backside for more abuse. So now instead of having 4.7564 pilots per CRJ. We now have 4.5643 pilots per CRJ and they don't have to pay 150 percent to line holders that try to pick up open time. The house boat needed a bigger ice bucket.

The airline with the industries absolute worst reserve rules took whats a suicidal QOL situation to a new low extreme. Basically if you are on reserve, your show time begins, with out notice, the second the day begins.

It was not what SAPA thought could happen but the company exploited it to some perverse extreme. The company is not giving in.

People are literally leaving aviation, all together, as a result.

Go else where, trust me!

Hahaha. I get a chuckle out of PRO-Offer and POT-able water.
I’m on the fence that people are saying “commandability”

On a side note this activity is against the law the only hope is that people are filing ASAPs and SCRs.

SAPA plain and simply screwed up. They just let some language slide that shouldnt be in there.

It is funny to read ZM wiggling with BS while the answer all along was - sorry we simply screwed up ....

Seriously, every CFI and prospective newhire needs to go elsewhere. This place is a shell of what it was, even a few years ago. Go to a WO, even if it’s a short commute. Take the $$ and guaranteed mainline spot as security.

For those of us not in the know, can you elaborate further?

Example: A pilot commutes to MSP from DEN for reserve that is a reserve availability period from 9a to 9p. Before, the soonest the company could call was 9a for the soonest show time of 11a, 2 hour show time. Which is something easy to do on your first day of reserve. Now, scheduling can put on that same person's 9a to 9p reserve schedule a show time of 5a, without notification, and now the person has to commute out the day before and get their own hotel. In addition it is now the person's responsibility to constantly check their schedule to see if something has been assigned, or get in trouble.

There are other terrible elements to this new manure sandwich as well. But make no mistake the company found the loop hole, exploited to it's brink, have realized it may be illegal, but are not backing down even though they know how upset the employees are. Profit first!

This little gem is on top of what is easily the worst reserve rules in the industry.

Seriously, go someplace else. Better yet instruct for another year or so and go directly to Spirit or Aliegent, it will happen soon.

Couldn't you just say you didn't log in online until 9:01am? How can you get a SAD when all you have to say is I commute and on my days off I don't have a phone or internet. Ya this crap needs to change. I think zm thinks the new policy is working....

Unfortunately, no. It is your responsibility to check the day prior to reserve.

I will admit I'm not on reserve, but this is what I've been told and read over.
