Haha why not? SkyWest could potentially employ another pilot, he/she gets an interview most likely and I won't go broke living in Chicago.

So many folks focus on BS'ery like this instead of making themselves stand out & more competitive. Don't mean to pick on you but I can't count the number of times the following exchange has happened...

Random White Male Pilot: "Man, it's always chicks & minorities getting hired this sucks."

Me: "Umm...yeah you do know that only about 4% of ATPs are women and all minorities make up like 9% of the rest of us?"

RWMP: "But, but...whatever man they still get hired in front of me!"

Me: "What have you done in the past few years to make yourself more competitive?"

RWMP: "Drink beer, whine about others getting hired and play Xbox."

Me: "Cool."

Rationalize all you like.

Certain people with 18 months 121 and 1000 TSIC get hired by legacies at age 24. This despite the fact that there are tens of thousands of older folks with years of experience and thousands of hours of TPIC available, and not all of them "have not made themselves competitive".

It's wrong and that's all there is to it. If you're the beneficiary of that sort of PC BS, don't kid yourself EVERYBODY knows how you got there and nobody gives you quite the benefit of doubt of competence they do for someone who earned it.

Nothings going to change those facts. Enjoy.

Facts? See below.

"Today, 4.1 percent of airline transport pilots (ATPs) are women, 2.7 percent are black or African-American, 2.5 percent are Asian and 5 percent are Hispanic or Latino."

Source... Airlines' flight decks lack diversity | TheHill

Do you really think that these folks are really getting hired in front of 85% of everyone else? There are also many young white male FOs with ZERO PIC who get hired because of connections. Life isn't fair, but don't blame everyone else because you can't get hired is my point.

That anger shows through and won't help you one bit.

Find me this data and I'll find the answer to support whoever is correct.

percentage of female pilots at majors (percentage of major pilots that are female)

And percentage of female pilots at regionals. (Again, percentage regional pilots who are females)

If these numbers tip one way or the other, there's your answer. I am not saying either one of you is right, I'm just saying use facts and not anecdotal evidence to make claims

I assume I can get hired when I find the time to jump through all the hoops, so no anger on my part yet. But I sure see it in a lot of my peers.

Connections are a part of life and the human condition, somebody worked hard and succeeded and now are in a position to help people they know. Complaining about that is pssing in the wind.

Government-mandated affirmative action on the other hand can be summed up in two letters.

There are more at the regionals because major airline demographics take decades to catch up to changes due to near-zero turnover prior to age 65.

There are a lot more women pursuing aviation now than 30 (or even 20) years ago.

You`re not picking on me, I have already moved on to a legacy. Just think it is a crock of **** that big titties trumps experience. And i have no problem telling any of them to their face. Of course I would spin the "tittles" part in a more intelligent format. Hooters maybe
