Junior guys in SEA and PDX were hired in May and July of last year. I just don't think there are that many more people who are looking for a NW base. PDX could see as many as 70-80 crews on the ERJ by the end of the year.

I'm actually looking to be based in NW. So SEA and PDX are considered junior bases at OO? I could handle living in MSP or ORD for 8 months before coming back to the NW. Now the question is, would that be a wise choice to spend 5+ years there? What are the chances OO might pull out?

Unlikely of a pull out. The Alaska 175 are pretty long contracts. Something like 10 years.

Does anyone know how to successfully establish communication with any SAPA rep? This is now the third time I have tried to unsuccessfully email one (all three separate people) over the past few months regarding separate issues important to me... regardless if they were important to them it still warrants a response as it is our "union."

Alaska will always keep OO in their back pocket to whipsaw Horizon. Not saying that with malice, just the way it is.

Having worked there for several years there's so much i could tell you!!! You think you're disillusioned now?...... Despite some glaring issues here at Skywest, it's a night and day difference between the 2!!
This is the only airline I have worked for and I know it could have been worse at some of the other bottom feeders. When I first started instructing, American Eagle was actually a pretty good airline. I knew of some that went to Pinnacle after SW and heard horror stories of pilots getting extended into their day off all the time and other crew antics. I guess for me it's just difficult to see an airline that has survived so long by working with their employees and providing a good culture. So many easy wins out there but they are too busy chasing their tail to listen. TG wants to brag about how CS processed 1,800 manual SchedPlus transactions? Why not automate some things and cut that number in half? Busy doesn't always equate to productivity. |
