Sure, but not with 15-16 off a month. And that's reserve, at minimum pay swa. I'll tell ya, a reserve at skw at 3-4th year pay is maybe around 70k with 12-13 a month. Unless you're a cka and you're OK flying your ass off, the illusion that you make more at skw is just that, an illusion. If you wanna hustle, you can make 200k at swa as an fo. Show me a skw captain making that.

Southwest is a dump. The good ole days there have come to an end. I wouldn't go there if I were a CA at SkyWest. Their retirement is a lot better, and 150K as a FO is easily attained. But that's just it, you're a FO, and will be for 15-20 years. Same equipment, same regional routes we fly, etc. No thanks.

Now on the other hand, leaving for United, Delta, or FedEx (if that's your cup of tea) is a no brainer.

Who cares whether CA is attainable or not, it's still better than being a lifer at any regional.

Their 401k, profit sharing, and work rules really add to the total compensation. I'm at AA and SW's contract is a lot better than ours.

elmetal 12-31-2016 12:00 PM

Oh no viper it's OK. We have profit sharing too.... 3k a year. It's sooooo much. /S
According to lifers anyway.

Mainline profit sharing is actual money, but the guys here think we have it good

Shhhh, don't let the cat out of the bag. Less competition for us, after all....

A lot more than 3k per year for CAs. A lot more, 12K for me in 2016.

This place is what it is, a regional. Treat it as such. Works for some and not for others. I was like many of you when I was a bitter FO, only seeing the negatives, not the positives.

Upgrading made this job a lot better, and I'm glad I did before getting to mainline. Just remember, all companies have their shortcomings. As Viper pointed out, the new contract at SWA blows AA's out of the water, of which AA's is still relatively new in the Airline World. AA really hoodwinked the Union, and was sold to the pilot group hook, line, and sinker.

You're including all the performance bonuses and such. That's not profit sharing.

Check again
