How much vacation did you use Simpsons? That schedule is 27+ hour 4 days and 21+ hour 3 days. (Or some 8 hour locals in there)

Not that I doubt you, it used to be possible in Denver a few years ago, but there's just not that kind of good pairings in crj anymore. Few and far between

And yeah. 12 days off of vacation and 4 sick days a year until year 5 is absolutely ridiculous.

You are comparing one aspect. When you make a comparison you have to do so holistically. What in their contracts' is better or worse than SkyWest PPM?

There is some stuff SkyWest pilots have that other regional pilots envy. Like min days off on reserve/line holder. Some airlines can build the schedules down to 11 days off per month. Even if every bid period resulted in 12 days off, that is still 12 more days throughout the year than someone at an airline with 11 days off per month. One of the places you made a comparison to has no minimum day pay on reserve and only for line holders with trips beginning and ending at certain times - this means their pilots may credit 1 hour on day one or the last day, and need more trips to hit guarantee...resulting in less days off

How many other regionals have Pilot Profit Sharing? How many get a quarterly bonus? I am not saying it is perfect, but there's good stuff, and some things that can be improved upon.

K. Look at the ppm and our accrual rates. I'm not making anything up. I love my job, but I'm not a koolaid drinker.

You are drinking the koolaid that Republic, PSA, Piedmont etc have life so much better than you do. You don't have to drink SkyWest koolaid, but sometimes the grass is not always greener on the other side.

The goal is to move on to a legacy, and I see your point of wanting to make things better for those behind you, but keep the big picture. You are going to talk to guys at other carriers and find out some of the goodies in their contracts, but they are not going to always tell you about some of the garbage in it.

elmetal 05-14-2017 06:57 AM

I have plenty of friends at these other carriers, and I'm well aware of the garbage. appreciate the message though sometimes we lose sight of the goal.

Oh and just a minor correction, the part about days off is detrimental to selling skw ppm, as 11 days off is not only ok, it's the norm for the bottom lineholders in ord/msp/dtw

I never understood the rationale behind user time increasing with years of service. Do years of service have anything to do with how much someone is sick, has a family emergency, or misses a commute?

Vacation time is obviously a different animal all together. Vacation time accrual rate rightly does increase with years of service.

elmetal 05-14-2017 08:19 AM

That's the way we've always done it.

I guess I was wrong, I had an 8 day stretch with 15 days off for the month. One of the trips was with a check airman so I got displaced and ended up with 18

Yeah....... No it's a serious question smart guy. Can anyone with the maturity level of an adult please answer my question? Thank you.

I have been at OO a couple months shy of two years, currently about 40% in a west coast base. I have no problem getting five day+ blocks, some weekends if I want them included. This month I have six days off with Memorial Day weekend in the middle. Started the month with a five day block.

It's a good life, can't complain-it's just how you bid.

Any one know how many more 175s are coming online this year and for which partners and where they will be based?

They were all supposed to be here by June except for one that is coming in December I think. No more confirmed deliveries at this point.

We are getting more 200s though. Sounds like they'll be based in DTW and flying there and ATL.

k. you're a bid king.

You'll see on a bad month or a short staffed month that it doesn't matter what you bid. you're working what they say, and when someone junior to you gets that 30 hr HLN or that 28 hour 4 day that you wanted with absolutely no reason why you didn't get it, you'll understand.

oh and for whoever mentioned usertime, we accrue at the same exact rate as any other company employee. Which sounds nice and fair you say yeah? Except we accrue based on credit hours, meanwhile CS and any other HQ person gets it for 40 hours a week, not 90 a month
