Regional pilots, especially the Skywest pilots, don't know what quality of life is, at least I have not met one who does. Yes, there are a bunch that have worked their way into special deals in SLC or other places with training or similar things, but they realize how ephemeral these deals may be and are terrified that any change may end their good deal.

The regional airlines are focused upon making life easy for the schedulers. This creates completely inflexible schedules for everyone. With a normal airline, pilots add and drop trips all the time so that their schedules conform to their lives instead of their lives revolving around what the computer spits out.

At the regionals a pilot might want to pick up a trip on the 17th when there are 8 trips on open time and no reserves, and drop a trip on the 19th when they have 10 reserves and no open trip. Does he get it, of course not, the computer says they need 12 reserves on the 19th so he can't drop the trip on the 19th that would allow him to pickup the trip on the 17th.

The request is not even considered because the scheduling managers don't want to give the crew members the idea that they have any control over their lives. This need to change. Flexible scheduling needs to be made a reality.

Schedules are crap everywhere... my AA friend was just complaining about how pbs gave him a 3 day followed by a 2 day.. all non commutable... Find a pilot with a great schedule and he's late 50’s, divorced, grown kids, and a 30year old FA girlfriend.. And 30 years with his company.

Weekends and 16-18 off a month at OO. Every holiday. I drive to work. Life is pretty good. Tough to drop but oh well.. I’d say that’s a pretty good QOL!

Default You gotta be pulling our leg....

What domiciles are you all based in, and where are you on the seniority list in base? Come on over to Chicago or Detroit where 11 to 12 days is all we get and 95 block is the norm.

Also for you yes voters, take a look at the Endeavor forum. Thank you Endeavor pilots and ALPA for setting the bar for all regional pilots! As a nice add-on the guaranteed positive space option for commuters! I would never thought that I would see that at a regional. Good luck on your TA.

Maybe Skywest has the secret sauce, but plenty thought they had it made at Atlantic Coast, Comair and ASA. You never know when someone else will deal management an ace and the gravy train will come off the rails. Never hurts to have your apps out at better places, no matter how comfy you are right now. Some Bubbas at EV are trying to figure out how to get a couple decades of logbooks updated quickly because they thought that weekends and 16-18 a month and every holiday was pretty good too.

That would never happen at a non-wholly owned.. and people were making fun of pur 4 year deal! 7 years for this Endeavor one....wowza. Thats approaching the Eagle 16 year deal back in 1998

You mean, 5 years, right? Haha.

Also, 7 years of what Endeavor is offering is FAARRRR better than 5 years of the shameful maneuver heap that you guys sacrificed an arm and a herd of bulls for....

Also, Air Wisconsin is one among many non-wholly owneds nowadays paying close or matching what Endeavor's TA proposes for hard, fixed rates (it's in bonuses, but with this move on the part of Endeavor it could propagate a paradigm shift in regional airline pay).
