It *should* be seniority order regardless. If junior ERJ folks are sniveling because someone senior on the CRJ got "their" upgrade... don't know what to say to that.

If someone gets bypassed out of seniority order (because they need them in the right seat), then they get CA pay while keeping their FO seniority... not horrible.

It was ERJ FO's who were under the impression that their initial upgrade bid should somehow put them ahead of existing CA's or senior RJ FO's upgrading into the 175. AKA not seniority order or the bypass issue...they just had no clue.

I call BS. Perhaps the new short course for current Crj pilots has been combined with upgrade.

I'm high 3700s with only 150hrs 121 SIC for perspective. so will upgrades drop off a cliff here in 2018?

That's right. Captain upgrade has just become less than 2 weeks.

Good for him/her. They also get the longevity credit? I hope so. In fact, I hope all ASA pilots can do this if the want. It should just be offered to them, no questions asked.

It will never drop below 1000 hrs part 121 (or 500 hrs for prior military).
Some part 135/charter 91 hours qualify, but essentially it's hard requirement because it's not in company SOP but FARs §121.436

For prior part 121 folks, it will definitely drop significantly. It already happened once when in March award dropped to 9 months,
with a current grow and a lot of senior FOs bypassing for QOL and waiting for home base, I think no later than January it will basically be direct entry CA program for qualified new hires.

Just to be clear, I wasn't inferring they would allow FO's without 1000 hours 121 (or qualifying 135) to upgrade. By cliff I meant what point on the seniority list will effectively be able to hold CA, assuming they meet minimum qualifications. So the consensus is basically DEC in the near future...insane to think about. It'll take me and most of my classmates atleast a year more to even be qualified, I wonder what It will look like then.

Yeah I'm not buying it either. Plenty of people with their bid in for Hotlanta.

Six month upgrade definitely has precedent... about ten years ago on the Bro.
