Otherwise you are saying SkyWest is hiring street captains and is quietly upgrading guys without posting on SWOL.

It happens almost every month. A few weeks ago 5-6 people were awarded ERJ upgrades with no DVR.

Well I stand corrected. I just confirmed that there is a 2 week pilot on property in CRJ upgrade class. Things fixin’ to get interesting around these parts:)

500 Hrs prior military? Any reference to this regulation out there?

I am prior military with over 1000 hrs PIC in the C-17. When I asked if that time counted towards upgrade I was told no, because only time after you get an ATP counts towards the "1000 hrs part 121 or equivalent".

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Some part 135/charter 91 hours qualify, but essentially it's hard requirement because it's not in company SOP but FARs §121.436

For prior part 121 folks, it will definitely drop significantly. It already happened once when in March award dropped to 9 months,
with a current grow and a lot of senior FOs bypassing for QOL and waiting for home base, I think no later than January it will basically be direct entry CA program for qualified new hires.

I'm guessing that you will move on to Delta before finishing IOE, let alone upgrade.

That is what everyone says, yet here I am, 5 months after completing IOE. So my question still stands, does anyone have any info on whether OO actually honors 121.436 or do they stick to the "1000 hrs 121 or equivalent" verbiage in OO regs? I inquired and was told "only time after getting an ATP counts. However no one in the military gets an ATP until after they get out.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Six month upgrade definitely has precedent... about ten years ago on the Bro.

And it was up or out then also. As in you don't pass, you get fired.

When we opened up the Brasilia base in IAH..captain went to newhires. It wasn't that pilots here didn't have the upgrade minimums, it was just that no one wanted to go there. Getting PIC time wasn't all that important as there weren't any jobs to move onto at the time and we were getting crjs at the rate of 3-4 a month.

We had a recently retired AF colonel that took the upgrade go to class without ever flying in the right seat. He did not make it and was fired.

SW require 2500 total and 1000 Company time or equivalent, check PPM.
But they could waive that requirements if desperate, and desperate they are, I guess all qualified FO just received an email from TG asking to bid for December upgrade class.

121.436 on the other hand could not be waived, as its FAA requirement for upgrade, and absolute minimum as of now.
