I get what you’re saying but at the end of the day new hires only care about good pay and QOL. If a regional can’t offer bonuses, career advancement (flow/interviews/higher pay) then most new hires don’t care much. That’s just reality right now. I’m all for us all moving on to majors and making a career like we all originally planned on but the reality is that if SkyWest doesn’t atleast raise pay higher or offer career advancement, then SkyWest will be nothing more than another Mesa and I’m not saying that out of disrespect. That’s just the reality of today’s market of pilots and if it continues this way SkyWest could be in for a rude Awakening in regards to a shortage as well. My regional isn’t any better right now and I’m putting in my time as well so I can move on up but I’m just stating what newhires are in search of.
They give quarterly profit sharing and performance bonuses.
As far as career advancement and "flow", I can tell you that flying for Skywest looks good on your resume if you're applying for Delta, SWA, or United. They like Skywest pilots. Period. Expecting a guaranteed flow with anyone is complete crap. Do a good job, upgrade, be a good captain, take pride in your job, get good referances, and your "flow" will happen.

So you're a restricted ATP, no previous flight experience, no type ratings on jets, got on 175s, and will probably upgrade with 1500 or less time with Skywest, and you're already b****ing about the job you have? This is the problem with today's regionals. Unappreciative a**hats who think they deserve everything right up front instead of focusing on getting their flight time and moving on. Go ahead, move over to Endeavor and fly CRJ-200s and get cut when Delta shuts their precious "wholly owned" entity down next year or two after the next economic downturn. Don't believe me? Fine, look at what they did with Comair and ASA. Oh, but wait, they pay BIG bonuses and just passed a big TA. Ok, and Daddy Delta doesn't care. Endeavor is still a regional and subcontractor at the mercy of ONE major carrier. Think about that for a minute. Whatever, if you're flying new 175s for Skywest and already hate being here, move on.
I’m actually a fan of this new mentality of expecting improvements or they are willing to leave for greener pastures.

Guess what, I've only been here a year and a half, but not complaining about what I have. I remember when it was tough to find a stable flying job. Go ahead, support the whiners and thumbsucking complainers about getting the opportunity to build time and experience at a regional before moving on.
I've flown in several other types of 91 and 135 operations. This is a breeze.

You should take more pride in what you do and expect to be compensated fairly for it. You are an aviation professional and have the same high standard of responsibility as pilots at other airlines. Please stop selling yourself, your coworkers, and peers at other airlines short. Don’t cheapen the work they do as professionals.

What is the approximate amount you expect for the quarterly profit sharing and performance bonuses for the first few years and after upgrading to CA?

So where else can an inexperienced, 1500 hour (25 hour multiengine) pilot, straight out of flight instructing in 172s go straight into jets, receive a type rating at company cost, get paid in training, and make close to $45-50 their first year, with the chance of upgrading to captain in a year or two? NOWHERE! I've flown part 91 and 135 jobs before coming here and trust me....people coming here to get experience aren't getting screwed. Most other companies don't pay quarterly bonuses either. Don't believe me....fine. Quit and go fly freight. Better yet, try to get on flying a corporate Gulfstream or Falcon without 5,000 hours turbine pic.
NOWHERE.
These guys that you’re knocking are who is available. Don’t give in to what they want and you might have airplanes sitting around with no one to fly them.
If you haven’t noticed, there is a bit of a bidding war going on between the regionals while fighting over pilots.
I am relieved to know that in today’s industry, even against the odds with people like you fighting for low pay and horendous QOL, improvements will still come because that is what the market is demanding.

hahaha.
If 9e pays more than what an airline pilot is worth, I’d be all ears as to know how you justify legacy pay.

How dare people say they are moving elsewhere for better pay and QOL! You act like they are committing mutiny! To each their own. Skywest works for me and my family due to the bases. If I lived in the east it would be hard not to think about Endeavor if I hadn’t put much time into Skywest. Why is everyone so butthurt about people talking about their situation. I didn’t see it as complaining one bit. The industry standard is not what it was 10 years ago... stop acting like it.

I want the guy to leave personally.
Wages move due to economic forces.
They aren’t paying more to us because they want to. They are paying more for reasons we all know.

As you know im usually very Pro SkyWest.. here’s the deal. Regionals are regionals and it is a different day and age then 1990’s when i got here. For the flight instructor. Got to a regional that will minimize your time there. And keep you close to Family.. flows never pannout as advertised (historicly).. Go to a regional thT isngrowing aircraft wise, and has a younger pilot group. Enjoy your time there but minimize it. Apply at the LCC’ / Majors as soon as you can... so we can bicker back and forth about pay, but reality is they will all match ech other to compete.. and you could waste thousands and QOL commuting across the country wasting days off sruck in NYC over the holidays. Or paying for hotels.ect..
