I think he is referring to the fact that JAN new hires won’t get profit sharing for the year they were hired. It has always been this way at SWA, better to get hired in the fall because then you are only working a few months without profit sharing.

I get that, I was a JAN hire, but what I’m getting at is that I doubt they would care much about missing a year of profit sharing versus staying where they have been

Profit sharing celebrations seem to be a "big deal", and while I wouldn't delay my hire date just for PS considerations, it was a bit like a slap in the face to watch everyone make such a big deal out of it while waiting almost 2 years to join in. That's ok though, it gave me almost 2 years of angst-free APU use and 2-enging taxi, while saving money was somebody else's problem and not mine. I'm not sure if that's the attitude they intended on fostering with PS rules, but that's what they get. Leadership is more than bean counting and making your employees wait up to 2 years before feeling they're fully part of the team is simply poor leadership. Blaming it on "the contract" is a pathetic excuse too.
