They lost a lot of seniority because when they came over their previous aircraft was no longer on property. It sucks, but it seems that these things do happen.

It seems a little more complicated than, "Well they stole Captain seats from us."

AT pilots could bid 717 captain or FO, or SWA FO, regardless of previous seat. As the amount of 717s decreased, ALL AT captains ended up as SWA FOs. I was told a 20 year captain at AT, who would have been top 10% in base seniority as captain had to wait 3 years before there were "upgrade" classes available for AT pilots. Correct me if I am wrong...

How did the guys that could hold the 737 at AT end up? I assume the 717 was the junior upgrade.

Maybe I'm not getting my point across well, but if your airplane is going away and you're not senior enough to hold the only available as CA, the only other viable option is FO.

Can we PLEASE create a separate thread to rehash the merger as opposed to derailing this one?

Upgrade still has to take into account all the lance captains that will upgrade. That have been bouncing around to maintain their star. There is roughly 950+ FO’s above the bottom captain. On an aggressive year there is 250 rough upgrades a year. Even if half take upgrade (which I think will be more). It’s about 2 years from the time they start calling upgrades!!

Forgot about the lances. Good point. They're kind of a wild card because they're generally more senior than they would be if they chose to upgrade at the first opportunity. Even in a big domicile that's still only around 15 pilots i guess.

Are Lances included in the FOs senior to the most junior CA on myseniority? I would think they'd be included there.

They are included in the FO seniority. For all purposes they are first officers just captain qualified. Meaning if we merged or purchased someone they would be snap shot on the FO side of the list.

Also what I meant about 2 years from the time it drops below the most junior captain on the seniority list.
