I received a CJO one day after interviewing but the next week received a TBNT. My guess is the chief axed my offer due to my weak LOI debrief and lack of addressing an issue with my diversion airport. Also, no internal recs. However, I'm ultimately not sure why since they didn't tell me. My log book was very professional, I had all requested times totaled, and feel that HR questions and general conversation was great.

Is there ever a situation where someone may be able to reapply before 12 months? I don't want to reapply until I get an OK from someone or wait the 12 months that was requested of me.

I don’t know about that. I don’t see a Chief torpedoing a CJO unless someone went to them with a very compelling argument why you shouldn’t be hired. They aren’t pouring over writeups of a passed interview in order to weed people out. More likely is that something came up in your background check or the tbnt is in error? On the other hand, maybe the CJO was in error. Either way, I would reach out to a friend at SWA and see if they can clarify for you.

i think it was a combination of a weak LOI score and no internals. The CJO is a legal formality to allow the background checks to continue. Once the file hits The Chiefs’ desks, internal recs are exactly what can push a candidate who is on the fence one way or the other.

For future reference, the LOI debrief can make or break the event.

I'm sorry, I think you have me mistaken with someone else. I dont post too much on here and I've never been "blacklisted".

That makes sense, and sort of what I was speculating. Just strange that the CJO is issued then withdrawn. They could consider those points prior to offering a job, then let background be final. I knew I didn't have it 100% yet but it's not a great feeling. Bit of an emotional jerk around to say the least.

I've heard at FedEx the debrief is the interview, and I'd imagine that is similar at SWA. I ran short on time after trying to gather information and a couple back and forths with the flight attendant and dispatch, and finally committed to my airport in the last 20 seconds of the scenario. I certainly could have made up for that in the debrief by talking about what my next steps would have been for dealing with the issues at that airport. Flubbed it in the debrief. It might have cost me 1,200 numbers. Uggg.

I have internals now and I'll do better next time if I interview with SWA again.

Don't be too hard on yourself. Took lots of us a couple tries to get here.

If you have never interviewed before, you can interview twice in the first year. After that it is always 12 months.

Don’t sweat it, we never hit our hiring targets anyways, won’t be 1200 numbers. FWIW I’d still continue throwing my app in each window if it were me. Let the computer weed you out if it’s too soon, but it’s not like there’s a person there to see you’re being too eager and get ****y about it. Plus one of these windows the 12-month thing will magically drop to 6 months/disappear/whatever and it’d be good to have your ducks in a row when it does. Just happened at DAL. Hope to see you on the line soon!

This is excellent advise. Keep updating and applying each and every window. I fully expect the 12 month wait period to be dropped at some point. I applied to so many windows, I got a TBNT letter as they cleared out one requisition about 6 months into the job. Don't delete any apps either, you never know which one will be the one to get noticed. Let them clear out the queue. Hang in there. I flew with a chief pilot awhile back who wasn't hired the first time though.

Thanks I appreciate the advice. Seeing what happened at Delta is what actually got me thinking about this again. Ducks are all lined up. I'll hit the next window.
