From: DOWNGRADE COMPLETE: Thanks Gary. Thanks SWAPA.
I’d have to agree with the 2024 part (at the earliest). I’m not being pessimistic but rather realistic. That’s fine. I want big gains in compensation and STD/LTD/LOL and am willing to wait and vote NO. Of course, that also means retro pay for dragging it on.

The Airlines Confidential podcast (Ben Baldanza) said this week that in every negotiation one party has the upper hand and that right now, due to the pilot shortage pilots have the upper hand. He went on to admit that due to pattern bargaining each successive contract will raise the bar a little higher, and airlines will be forced to adjust their business model to reflect higher labor costs until the balance shifts again.
So one of their own - Baldanza - a member of Conquistadors de’ Vuelos, former CEO of Spirit, and management at a dozen other airlines…Northwest, Continental, USAir, UPS…and current professor of airline economics at George Mason University… says that waiting will only get progressively more expensive. It would be foolish to drag this out.
So yeah, 2024 at the earliest.

I think SWAPA should sponsor a lottery for the date we ink the next agreement. Closest pilot to date takes the pot. My projected date, is September 1, 2025. Bob is in no hurry. Only when the bottom line begins to get pinched and their bonuses are affected will they start investing in ink to put on that paper.
Personally, my greatest fear is an acquisition which would delay this date even further. I also hope that Delta and United go in front us this time, so we at least know where the market is. Who knows if American will even be around by then.

American’s not going anywhere. Too big to fail. Bankruptcy however is likely. The only questions is can they afford a concessionary pilot contract while still trying to recruit and retain enough pilots to manage their massive retirements?

I was under the impression that bankruptcy law changed after the Great Recession in a way that made the old quick trip through Ch. 11 far less appealing.
I’m not a lawyer and I didn’t stay at a holiday inn last night, though.

Fake news, that letter mentions Pilots . Southwest does not have pilots, they have plumbers and tradesmen.
I would love to see how the Delta pilots would react if their CEO called them a bunch of plumbers.

Thanks for everyone for the answers to my questions thus far...One other thing, with regard to the 8060-11 forms has everyone been putting fax #s on them? If so, where since there's no place annotated for them, TIA.

Hey,
Current regional FO here. Working for Southwest has been a goal of mine since I was a kid. I’m about 6 months in at my regional and Southwest is still the ultimate goal. I was looking for advice on things I could be doing now to frame myself up to hopefully get an interview and a job offer there one day. As well as the amount of hours and experience everyone had when they got hired. Thank you!
