Pre covid at UAL yes it was easy to do 1.5 times you’re monthly gaurantee, post Covid coming up it will be easy to do 2x your gaurantee as line holder.
I’m a junior captain not commuting and it’s great. I’m really glad I have an option not be stuck in a 737 the REST of my career. Which was the main reason I never applied to SWA, oh and paying for a type rating lol.

Thanks for chiming in. Can you post some sample junior schedules for us and what 1.5-2x credit month look like?
I hear ya on the 737… but the type rating requirement went away ages ago.

Which is why the number of new hires is “TBA” and they revised down the number of upgrades. If they can figure out a way to train what they really want….you know they’ll do it.

I think the most junior Captain is around 600 senior to me, but there are over 800 FOs bypassing right now. So I think it’ll be a while.

According to myseniority.com the most junior captain is 1197 above me, with 813 FOs that can hold it.

I would very much like to see how days off to credit compares with other carriers. I believe it’s healthy to compare with our peers and strive for betterment of our contracts.
As for flexibility at SWA, I think it’s pretty good. I have nothing to compare it with but I was pretty lazy in August crediting 120 with 20 days off and this month, wanting to maximize 2021 pay, 401K contributions, and most important needing to up the holiday spending account, I’ll credit about 233 with 9 days off. While QOL of course suffered this month, I was able to control it and have the ability to move the rheostat as needed, allowing awesome QOL or pay as needed.

December schedule (in the midst of our peak). 20 days off in 35 day month. So I guess you could normalize that as 18 off in a 31 day month. Credit of 99 hours. 53 hours of block. Long haul international.

Serious thoughts about leaving.
Off topic, just heard we had a Captain take VSP. He had around 10 years left and punched out.
His wife got tired of him being at home so got hired by FedEx. So he is getting $200,000 per year from WN for the next 3.5 years, meanwhile by year 2 at FedEx (with the VSP $) he will literally blow away his WN paycheck. Not even in the same league anymore.
I don't know whether he is lucky, or a genius, or a bit of both, but that's incredible!
