I currently have a CJO and looking to transition from military career to 121 in December. What is expected if a strike occurs before or during training? Not start class, stop training if already there? Is it ok to start and complete training as long as nothing is done to make revenue for the company? Will SWAPA put out info for that publicly for those that aren't members yet if/when released? Just curious as to what to expect and don't want to end up on a scab list. Also would like to still have job offer there after it's resolved, not sure if telling SWA no to class during a strike would put that in jeopardy.

It should be along the lines of not jeopardizing your career and not doing anything against the efforts of the union.
The union will put out very specific instructions to make sure you’re protected.
Also, pilot QOL does not benefit the company.

I’d be more worried about the trajectory of SWA and its long-term viability. That said, most of us would strongly discourage you from coming here, but that’s obviously your choice.

To add to the responses, unions traditionally always negotiate the reinstatement of “hostages” to include making them financially whole. I know it’s a little daunting to wrap your mind around this whole 121 “thing” and especially so with a looming strike as a possibility, but you’re worrying too much.

That being said, and it sounds like you already understand this, but just to emphasize it: whatever you do, don’t be a scab if a legal strike is called by SWAPA. Nothing about SWA, or any airline, is worth scabbing for a few days or weeks to earn a few dollars or to get a good base. Don’t do it.

Like others have explained, SWAPA will be very specific about what to do to protect yourself.

Im starting class soon, i've talked to several SWA pilots and NONE of them make it sound as bad as you guys.
Im confused as hell and a bit disappointed, I also have an interview at American but I live in a SWA base.
Ive heard stories of FOs pulling 400k and CAs pulling 600-900k... so im not sure what the whining is all about?
Also im pretty clueless about 121
