tires are not made for much more, and the car gets really lite around 105. There’s no downforce and the suspension is nonexistent in triple digits. Maybe a quick shot around someone but wouldn’t sustain much more than 85. That being said, autopilot will comfortably navigate at 85 all day long.

I was pretty close to pulling the trigger on a Y for a
driving commute, but I was not as impressed by it as a lot of people are. I think the whole car feels extremely cheap. That plus the advertised range vs actual range would mean I would need to try and recharge in a stretch of highway that has very little charging infrastructure. I bailed at the last minute and am glad I did. If I lived in base, I would probably have at least taken the cheap lease since the charging problem wouldn't be an issue.
It feels to me like Tesla is trying their best to get out of the new car business since it is competitive and demand for EVs has hit a big plateau in lieu of better battery tech. The model 3 and Y refresh are a joke. Tesla's entire business model is based on a future without people driving cars.
I wish BYD was allowed to sell cars here. That would make Tesla actually have to compete and churn out a better product.

Also gonna look at the Kia EV9, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Rivian R2 (when it comes out), and maybe a Caddy Optiq. Tesla looks like it has the best charging network so have to see what’s compatible with where we usually go, etc.
Not buying til round this time next year depending on deals.

I wasn’t necessarily looking for an electric car, although I do enjoy that aspect. I was looking for the best self driving to take me to work 1+45 each way and sometimes more with traffic. The tesla isn’t perfect but it’s pretty amazing to me. Hands off the entire way, from parking lot to my driveway, makes a big difference for me coming off a hard working trip and then driving home. I don’t think anyone else is in the same world of self driving yet.

My youngest drives a newer Model 3. He's super happy with it. I drive a post-refresh Model X with a yoke and I'm super happy with it.
I was gonna purchase the CyberBeast instead of my Model X, but didn't think it would fit in my garage, hence the X. I did end up test driving a CB recently, brought it home to test it, and I'll be damned if it doesn't fit in my garage with just moving the storage shelf unit. So my next car will likely be the CyberBeast as it can also provide house back-up power.
With respect to driving distances, the car routes you via the supercharger routes, and they have them all over, so you'll never run out of juice.
I generally stay away from Chinese products as more often than not, the quality lags big time. With respect to BYD, it's too new and unproven, and I know there's STILL a huge PR war against Elon Musk because of his politics, so I take A LOT of hit pieces against Tesla with a HUGE bucket of salt. I've been driving a Tesla long before Elon woke up and never cared one way or the other about his politics, but more about his product, and in all my years of driving Teslas, I don't see myself switching to some other EV anytime soon, but rather refreshing mine.

Yeah, after a test drive, I went from indifferent to a Tesla fan boy pretty quick. I love the idea of the cyber truck but it’s too outrageous for me. My family all wanted to get it but I just couldn’t do it. I wasn’t even going to drive it but my son really wanted to so we did. As much as I don’t like the attention seeking appearance, that thing was an incredible fun vehicle to drive! No doubt about it, it was super cool! If they ever tone it down a bit, I’m definitely getting one.
Note: for those that don’t know, visiting a Tesla dealer is nothing like visiting a car dealer. It’s much more like an Apple Store experience. They aren’t salesman but facilitators to answer your questions and assist you in test drives. They don’t go with you, you leave with the car and go enjoy. They aren’t trying to sell you, check your credit, ask about monthly payments, etc… they just wish you a good day and you leave. If you want to buy one, you do it in on your phone. Set price, no haggling, seasonal deals, super easy! So, if you have a dealer nearby, grab the wife and kids and go spend a couple hours of free fun. Be careful though, the vehicle sells itself! 😂
