I’ve always been a Toyota guy and they’ve treated me super well. I wanted to step down to a midsized truck. Tacomas are beautiful, long lasting trucks but too compact inside. I bought a Jeep gladiator. Everything within me said not to but it but I did anyways. I’ve only had it a couple years and no problems. There are a pros and cons. However, I don’t feel nearly as comfortable or confident as I did with Toyota. I’m always considering replacing it. Also, bought a Tesla which I love. It’s been decades of an entire family fleet of only Toyota/Lexus products so it’s weird, for us,

I currently drive a 21 year old vehicle and am just going to stick with it until the market completely flips, which it seems like it is headed that direction.
My mom actually bought a Land Cruiser and I drove it for a day. Nice vehicle, but I am going to buy a Lexus for that price. If you are towing something big with a family on a regular basis, it's a great fit. Otherwise, you are buying the world's most expensive luxury suv without a lot of the bells and whistles you get in luxury brands. The HUD was cool, though.

I actually had great luck with a Fusion, which was my last car. I foolishly let them sell me the extended warranty (third-party), so of course nothing broke on it! Until about four years later, after I had moved to a new town. One of the 4-way cursor buttons on the steering wheel broke, so I figured I'd better get something out of the warranty. My local dealer in my new town told me they called the warranty company, and they had no record of my VIN purchasing one!
So I called the original dealer (which was fortunately still in business), and he researched and discovered that they "forgot to buy the warranty" from the warranty company. Riiiiiiight. Further, the warranty company wouldn't sell them the policy I paid for! They asked if I wanted to explore "other warranty options." Uhhh... no. I was a little short with the dealer rep. I told them I want my funds returned immediately, and they fortunately did it with no hesitation.
So my $3300 warranty (ouch, I know) was refunded, and the total I spent on repairs in the 8 years I owned the car was under $1000, for that steering wheel button and a fuel pressure sensor. The warranty definitely wouldn't have paid off in my case. That Fusion was a fantastic car; I really liked it.

My son had a minor incident (hit an object in the road) and it took out the power steering actuator. Unfortunately, the power steering system is a unit on those cars, and it electric…leading to a $4K fix. Insurance totaled it. Gave him $8K. Go figure.

How you liking the Tesla? Gonna get the wife an EV next year. She doesn’t want a car that sits low and wants a SUV so I was looking at the Model Y for price vs the X. Prob test drive the new Rivian when it comes out next year along with the Kia EV6 and maybe the Ioniq 5 too.
Great cars. New ones have a heat pump v elements for heat so more efficient. Does well in snow, get AWD, the factory tires are poop and will only last 30k miles. They're heavy so you basically need truck tires especially with the torgue they have but fortunately they make tires for EV now. I have Goodyear on mine but be aware that if you go with a different tire than what tesla has they will not replace your tire if you get a flat and there is no spare so youll need that towing option on your insurance. Costs me $5 extra a month for it. I've had two flats because of all the sh1t in the employees parking lots.
things I like most about the tesla is you get updates all the time that improve functions so you get new options without having to buy a new car. Fast chargers that you can charge anywhere with use of adapter for non tesla chargers.
I believe 4 yr bumper to bumper warranty for free.

we have a 3 and a Y. The Y sits higher and more space inside than the 3. The X is cool but way too much $ and doesn't sit any higher than the Y.

more bang for your buck your buck. She’s got a minivan now and that does terrible in the snow so gonna get her something with AWD/4WD. She never goes more than 30 mi from home or I’m driving so a EV works for the range.

Nice. For the price of the X, I figured you don’t get that much

I’ve got the 3. I bought last year so the Y had not been refreshed yet. Now they both are refreshed. I love everything about it. It’s the fastest, quietest, smoothest car that I’ve ever owned. It drives me 1+45 to work and back without needing a charge at the employee lot. I sit back and relax/monitor. Haven’t bought tires for it yet but thanks for the pro tip above.

the Y is much slower, not that it really matters. But we notice my 3 is quicker etc than the Y my partner drives.
