Ya.... Partner... Hmm.. Is that some sort of code? This new-speak is hard to understand. Why re-invent the language?

Some are not married , hence saying wife or husband. Many have a commitment partner on their insurance and passes or just life . It does make for good memes though.

Some just don't care what you or those who share your world view on the internet think about the words they use. Pretty sure it's a common gender neutral term for boyfriend or girlfriend (or spouse) in 2025. No real code involved.
My partner and I cooked dinner last night and hung out with my kids and their partners. I sometimes refer to the person I am flying with as my flying partner. I am usually not gay for them. Usually.

id say it's pretty common for all different walks of life. Its our term we use for each other. Doesn't really matter what other people think as im sure they dont care what I think either. That's the way it should be.
But I do hope I make the meme page

Might be a shocker to you, but not all of us have a wife.
