They’ll just be out of ice and water. How that happens more than once and is acceptable is beyond me.

Because we have a lot of first officers getting paid to pretend they’re Captains and they accept that BS because they don’t know any better.

MCO-FLL no ice or water? Not happy but fine. Short flight.

They wanted me to go LAX-BWI no ice no water. I told them to cancel the flight. Called dispatch told them I’m cancelling the flight. Called the CP on duty told them I’m cancelling the flight. (He was cool with it.)

20 minutes later, guess what showed up at the airplane.

Ice and water is for medical emergencies. And we have plenty of them.

Put your foot down and say no.

So it’s the FOs fault?

I, personally, can’t wait for this day in upgrade training. I want to know the ice/water policy. I’m in the right seat, which means I don’t understand most things like when water is needed.

Also, if I’m being paid to pretend I’m a captain, I want a pay raise. It’s hard work, especially when the Captains usually show up at D-20 muttering about something “I left in the parking garage”

I knew my comment would go completely over some heads.

Yes. It’s the First Officer’s fault. Totally nailed it.

He’s not saying FOs are paid to pretend to be a captain. He’s talking about captains that won’t stand up to such BS like having no water for a long flight. Hence they get paid captain rates, but in his opinion aren’t "real" captains.

Can you clarify, when you say water. Are you saying potable water or water bottles?

because if you say it’s for an emergency, you could just use the other.

Our Summer meltdown was so bad we even had to cancel some very important rescue flights out of KBL due to customers refusing to fly us.

and that too bad because they were high paying credit trips...

The water in the lav is specifically labeled as non potable. Can’t drink it, and therefore, unusable.

Some people make this job a lot harder than it has to be.
