Possibly...I should have said "for now" in my original post, although, haven't we all been waiting for the pilot shortage to hit for years? Weird how it has never materialized. I'm sure it'll be any day now.

was getting awfully severe at the regional level prior to covid. Heck just look at that money AA is throwing at its regionals now.

this is true - look at frontier a few years ago - 1500 hour cfi’s to the right seat. This won’t help our negotiations at all. Cfi’s will come here - get their time - and then leave for a legacy…..all while keeping spirits labor cheap (turnover) so no there is no negotiation leverage.

But this is a nice primer for when negotiations come around and people are saying “we need higher first year pay!” Let management raise rates for their own recruitment issues

I think this is true. Spirit having to pay pilots years 1-12 substantially more cuts into their cost advantage. They will fill right seats with Riddle Rats before cutting into their cost advantage.

This is exactly what leverage is. People getting a type and leaving is leverage.

While I agree, I do prefer to fly with the best and brightest not everyone’s left overs like me.
