Honest question, why apply to Spirit now vs the pre pandemic windows when we were hiring?

Not trying to bust chops but if I were screening applications, anyone who was applying pre pandemic would get a leg up on those now. Spirit has always made it clear it wants people who want to be here, not just when it’s convenient.

Again, not trying to attack you. Just wondering how many in this new stack are from people who now realize Spirit might be a great career option
This is exactly what they did. All the people that applied pre COVID either we’re offered Cjo’s or were called back first, assuming Spirit was interested in the first place.

They have people in the FLL office that applied a couple months ago doing logbook checks now, so those that applied should be hearing something soon.

Where’s the like button on this thing...
More like “where is the irony button” because Excargo would say he would never come to Spirit and makes more at Compass”....

Did not. I said that first year pay at NK (considering training pay) was actually less than first year pay at Compass (including bonus) and I could see why Compass captains found difficulty taking the pay cut to make the jump. I STILL think first year pay ought to be higher. I never criticized second year pay or above - not after the contract was signed.

And certainly even first year NK was better than Compass pay once Compass went out of business.

But whatever you want to think, the principle still applies. Don’t hassle the ones who have learned, hassle the ones who haven’t.

Just pull the ladder up. Keep stepping on people below you because you're senior and better than they are. God forbid people decide to make different decisions in their lives.

Believe it or not I had a plan to apply to Spirit first quarter 2020 because I had just finished my 1,000 hours of 121 PIC since you never know how long it'll be until you get the chance to upgrade again. Unfortunately Covid happened, and myself and most of the industry went from trying to move on, to hoping to just stay employed. I don't begrudge Spirit hiring those who had apps in longer than me first, in fact I'd be concerned if they didn't.

So yeah I applied as soon as the application window opened up again, because I have been convinced Spirit is the airline I'd like to retire from at the end of my career for several years now.

Try not to begrudge me for my poor timing, and bad luck. Although over this last year I've been lucky enough to avoid a furlough which is certainly something.

I wouldn’t let people discourage you in any way. We’ve all been at the point where we are making career decisions. Some work out and some don’t.
This belittlement or criticism people utter when others are making career decisions is just how some express their own comfort level of where they are currently. But everyone has been there at one point.
Only you know what’s best for your situation and when to make career moves. This industry is tough enough on the timing side for that. Good luck, if you make it, you’ll like it here.

Honest questions, what's the significance of this anymore? Is this a requirement for anyone?

You can make a Tik-Tok or Instagram video about this. Really popular these days...dance around like a lunatic to an old 90’s songs, get a ton of “likes” and you will get paid for it.

When I see young professionals such as doctors, lawyers, nurses and pilots do this—I know our future is in good hands!

After you have a 4.0 gpa (Master’s to be competitive), build homes for baby animals on your days off and crawl through broken glass at a couple job fairs. Then you get a chance to be probed for a few days with a psych eval and more testing to prove your aviation prowess.

All to wear “The Hat”.

The horrors stories I heard from great CA’s I flew with at my last airline trying to check all the boxes...

To those guys I say...

You’ll be safe here. Come on over, the water is more than fine.

Pre Covid it was at best preferred, but I don't think anywhere required it, and it was fairly easy to be competitive without it. These days though it's a much more competitive market for pilots, so every checked box helps.
