On top of that everybody in my class and classes ahead of me are getting rebased to have to go to recurrent 4 months early, due to short FO staffing. All of that while making terrible pay. Meanwhile management is doing zero to curb attrition.

I am not disagreeing with you that it’s not an ideal place to be if you are junior and unfortunately the fo’s that are sitting in reserve forever could have had better reserve rules if most of the pilot group hadn’t sold our good reserve rules in the last contract. I am curious as to what you think us 50+ year olds who have been here 10+ years should do? For most of us this isn’t our first or even second airline. We’ve been furloughed/downgraded etc, so starting over again for the 10 years or so I have left isn’t exactly my idea of fun. I also agree that management is doing nothing, they have already check out. We will rightfully continue to have an attrition problem until management decides to do something about it.

Am I the only one with 30 years left who is excited about having some decent seniority at an 8000 pilot jet blue?

Yup. 3.5 in and I highly doubt I leave (I was 100% leaving had it been F9, but now…) By the time this SLI gets done and between the amount of new hires added at BOTH airlines, it’s not going to be bad at all.

I also have zero plans or desire to go to 65 so I’ve got about 20 left. I was lucky to be hired here right when the flood gates opened. Moved up quickly and spent barely anytime on reserve.

Spirit/Blue is my 4th airline. I’m tired as hell of starting over every 4-5 years. Life is very good here and I do whatever I want in my life. We’re bidding for Sept. - it’s a formality. I’ll get the 2 main weekends off I need next
month for my annual buddies golf trip and my Chiefs home opener.

Last week some friends asked me if I could go boating with them. I had a 10 hour 2 day conflicting with it. I thought about it and realized summer will be over before too long and I’d sure as hell love to spend it all day Weds with them on the lake. Mid week so days were green and dropped it.

I’m not going to chase money and have my life go to trash because of it. That’s stupid. Yes I’m aware SOME guys have great schedules after only 1-2 years and SOME upgrade after 1. Great! Good for them. I’d rather not commute to NYC (love it and have family there) just to get decent seniority.

Finally, given the size of our merged groups it’s going to be getting paid like the airline it is. You get away with a lot of BS when your the size of Allegiant/Frontier/Sun Country, but you want to be almost the same size as WN (if all orders are taken), it’s going to have to be operated and paid like one.

So yeah, I could leave for a legacy, give up all QOL for a few bucks, only to be paid close to the same 2 years(Ish) from now. I’m good.

Seems like JB/NK is going to be the new, pre merger US Airways. Heavy east coast focus, small europe footprint, oodles of airbuses.

Loss of 50 million dollars. Among the first to return to profitability! This cheapskate model does not work in this new environment. But our fit fleet? But our ancillary revenue? None if it matters if the company can't retain pilots. Attrition and this management team's failure to stay on the pulse of the industry has cost this company millions ! High fives to C Level!

It turns out that preemptively cancelling flights due to staffing/incompetence while simultaneously taking on new airframes doesn't make money. Who would have thought it? The ULCC business model is clearly struggling.

We will be last to profitability. How ironic

And between the JBLU SLI, and all the attrition probably the most career stagnation. Abandon ship.
