Haha. I highly doubt it. Rodosta is involved in the uniforms and he isn’t a tool who would want to wear a yellow tie.

Mulligan Please 12-15-2021 07:10 AM

It’s going to be Dwight Schrute yellow shirts and a black and yellow pinstripe tie.

Does my choice of coat increase or decrease my chance of hot doubletree sex with the pilots?

Asking for a friend.

It’s what’s on the inside that counts. In this case it’s what’s inside the coat.

Did you just pull those percentages out of your rear bc neither is accurate

No, half the SWA pilots aren’t “tools”. How about you stop trying so hard to be edgy? Trashing a pilot group because you think it’s edgy is ridiculous.

And seriously, grow up. SWA guys/gals are great. This is embarrassing behavior, even for forum standards

Anyone who’s got an issue with the Karbon jacket is nuts in my book. That thing is sweet.

if you chose this career to be covered in brass and “look like a pilot” DAL is hiring :D

So, back to how a Miada is a sports car.

It got too many seatbelts and not enough coat hooks.

Any chance Spirit could open a base in California?

So you want to pay a million dollars to take a 10% cut in pay?

Do you really think Bill Franke cares about the cost of housing for his employees? If the California base made him money he'd open it. But, parking airplanes, paying for gates and everything else that goes along with a California base doesn't fit the ULCC model.

Just curious what the added costs are for a base over what we are already doing. Because we are already doing a-lot of those things you stated. I know crew lounge is one, and probably others, but I’d imagine we are already paying the main costs of operating in and out of California

Don't want to negotiate in public, but curious what the cost of having a base is. I don't really need a V-file for my bid package and my pay check anymore, and there is always a FA in the one non-broken lounge chair. Just give me pairings that start where I live, and access to the Admirals lounge, or a hotel room when I need it.

I feel like it cant be that much given Skywest has like 20 of them.

I would think there is a difference in cost between establishing a new base vs. maintaining an existing base.

I think you’re right. However, the question I’m curious about is, is the cost of opening a base in LAX more than opening a base in IAH for example, assuming flying/gates stays the same?

The comment wasn’t addressed to Franke, but to the poster it responded to. High income people are increasingly bailing out of CA. That means the declining percentage of high income people there are going to see taxes rise to offset the lost tax revenue base. There are about 70 flights a day between LAS and SoCal. Alternatively, it’s a four and a half hour drive. Why would anyone want to pay the extra costs to live in Ca?

I agree. Total waste if you ask me. Would be awesome if they could just have virtual bases that sort of rotate each bid period. In addition to the current actual bases of course.

I asked management at my old airline about this a few years back. Has to do with the DOL supposedly. To be considered a crew domicile, which is where you generally pay your unemployment taxes if I’m not mistaken, there are minimum requirements per each state. Just pure speculation but I’d imagine most states, especially CA, would require some kind of dedicated sitting area and restroom for crews. And I be there are a ton of airport politics tied to that location.

Spirit wants no part of CA employment law.

Didn't consider that part, and if correct That Might Kill Cali. CDTFA is apparently not lenient. Might be cheaper to build pairings with waivable DHs on both ends, while still keeping our cheap NV base (hint).

(Frontier guy here) I was told this by someone in upper management at Frontier. Frontier looked at an ONT domicile, got into Cali employment law and said forget it

I heard from a spirit gate agent in Denver the same thing. So it’s credible.

What about PHX ? Prob no gate space there aye?

No gate space that they’re willing to pay for.

SLC. Using those XLRs to ferry missionaries down into So America and skiers to the Wasatch slopes.
The Skywest alum would love it.

As of now how long can one expect to sit reserve in ORD and LAS before getting a line.
I understand it's a moving target and anyone's guess but any estimates are appreciated.
TIA!

What rumor is this? Is this something Spirit specific, or the “Frontier closed ORD so they’re going to close it for spirit after the merger too.” rumor?

That combined with the decrease in upgrades is certainly putting a dent on those times coming down post-COVID.
