If anything, a larger airline that will be NK and F9 will give the new company more flights and firepower at these legacy hubs.

There is zero reason for NK to realign their bases with F9 before an approved merger just for the sake of “doing it” for the merger. No merger is 100% and no way they start to close bases because F9 wants them to, prior to the completion of the merger.

We can’t hire to staff
We have pricing pressures in specific legacy hubs
The company will move assets to bases where they can make money
Our competition is not Legacy carriers for one. It's the budget friendly passengers who like a low cost ticket no matter what. What pricing pressures are you referring to? Landing fees, Jet bridge's, Fuel? If that were true why when the realignment of Terminal 5 came up we acquired MORE gates.
Your right, we can't hire to staff and what makes us more attractive to pilots? A Midway base or ORD. LAX or ONT, DFW or ?? Bases in major metropolitan areas with numerous flights to them get you applicants, not satellite ones like KONT!!

And when consumers seek the lowest fares, and legacy carriers are price matching us, that’s pricing pressures.

No. But we are their competition. Who do you think used to be their passengers? For that, they make it harder to survive in their world (legacy hubs)

I live in the sticks, closest retail to me is a gas station. Owned by an Indian couple with sitar music playing but the guy remembered everyone and ran the place great until his son took over and it went to shyt in a hurry. Always filthy dirty, old product, surly guy, etc. A brand new RaceTrac opened across the street, it’s like the Mecca of gas stations, gourmet coffee, fresh fruits daily, great sub sandwich shop, clean bathrooms, even clean fresh window wash at the pumps. I have to drive two miles up the road, wait forever at the light, then a mile the other direction and another light to u-turn home. I make it a point to do this because of the superior experience and selection. I tell everyone what a great thing it is and how the other place is a dump. But when I’m running late to work and need gas, or when I just need a case of hop soda that’s a buck cheaper, more often that I like to admit I stop at the old place and grumble and swear the whole time.

Those are the legacy passengers we are after. We may never be the first choice, or the best choice, but sometimes we are the choice they make.

Some will, but a lot of passengers will never ever fly spirit no matter what.

And that’s fine, Spirit has never tried to attract those passengers. “Leisure travelers,” “budget minded passengers” and “Visiting Friends and Relatives” is what I have heard over and over on who our customer is.

So the guy who said Legacy airlines aren’t out competition, I guess that’s why the legacy carriers created a basic economy

Pilots love to think we’re the only thing management should consider when making decisions. Regardless how many pilots it may attract/retain, having a ORD base is worthless if it loses money every day.
