Changing a lot overnight is one of the main reasons JB is pursuing Spirit. They want an immediate and significant diversification of their current route structure. Thinking they're going to acquire Spirit only to shove them all into BOS/JFK/EWR because they're a "NE airline" is an asinine take. So no, it's not valid to worry about them changing their structure. They're going to expand their current structure. Will there be growing pains? Of course, but this has been done dozens of time before. I'm sure they'll be just fine and that most of NK's hubs will remain.
There’s also not enough real estate in BOS to really expand over what they have planned now. Not gonna happen. Similar issue in NYC, plus I’m almost certain they’ll be required to divest slots there.

JBU said when they sweetened their offer back on June 20th that they would be willing to divest all of Spirit’s flying in BOS and NYC. So like you said, this merger would be focused on getting JetBlue more relevant in the Midwest and west coast in my opinion.

I have a feeling the dynamics have significantly changed behind the scenes. I don't think Franke wants to play ball at that price. I think Frontier might have bowed out and now the details are being sorted.
Franke already said before they "sweetened" the deal last time that the offer was fair and he wasn't paying more.
We'll see.

You might be right on this one. When I did a meet and greet with Frontier they were talking about market disruption and such. If Spirit merges with JetBlue then Frontier will be the only ULCC and will be able to expand into different marketplaces. I have no idea if Frontier has bowed out already, but the constant delays of the vote has got to e frustrating for everyone involved.

That makes absolutely zero business sense. They are buying us to bring their model to a bigger network

After reading that TIG letter to the Spirit BOD, the Frontier offer isn’t even in the same ballpark as the JB offer. It was pretty scathing. I’m pretty sure that sentiment is shared by all the major institutional investors. At this point, it looks like the BOD is being told to accept the JB offer.

What’s your source on this. F9 is growing DFW. It the sixth most departure city In The system. They closed Ord but increased flying out of MDW.

If you count the ORD departures that still operate, Frontier is flying more daily departures out of the Chicagoland area than they have in probably 4-5 years. It’s just a lie that they “abandoned” Chicago. The only thing that’s been abandoned is the Chicago based pilots.
