When you say “indoc” do you mean airplane systems and procedures? I get that you can do aircraft training remotely, but indoctrination at each airline I’ve worked for has meant the HR housekeeping, signing all manner of documents, benefits review, the mandatory 121 review, drop ins from management and union, etc. the first week or so of coming on property. Then you go do airplane specific stuff.
My point is a certain amount of that, but not all, will need to be done with NK pilots and FAs, and that it might be easier to do it in person over a day or two. Pilots will probably need some kind of sim or checkout to fly on the B6 operating cert, or maybe not if they get a waiver for 320 to 320.
I just realized how much I don’t care about any of this…

By indoc, I mean the 121 training. Systems on the 220 are also ipad based. And the company wants to move that way with the other types.

My gripe with iPad systems training at JetBlue… if you want to know what a button actually does, you have to read it again.. and guess what, the second time you read it, it still doesn’t say.
At least when you’re clicking through PowerPoint slides in a classroom, you can ask the instructor what that button actually does.

I don’t think I know the A220 any worse by learning systems from an iPad course. Most of the buttons are sensed by the airplane anyway and one step closer to pilotless cockpit. If I want to look up what a certain button does, there’s other sources of material besides the iPad courses that I can reference. I’ve done training programs at other airlines where you leave the schoolhouse as a systems guru, but still unsure how the automation works on an arrival. I prefer how Jetblue does it, especially the 220 program.

One step closer, which it is with some of the technology on the A220. I didn’t say it was around the corner. You said that.

The A220 is a perfect example of why there cannot be passenger service pilotless aircraft. It's can't even get off the gate WITH pilots much of the time because the stray electrons are doing something unruly.

Agree to disagree….most of the issues you’ve mentioned you can point the finger right back at Jetblue.
