well you are free to bid reserve and drop your days to junior captains who make less.

Or you could have bid downgrade and take the furlough.

but you didn’t.

The author of Flying the Line, George Hopkins, wrote an article titled “Comeuppance.” Many on this thread should Google and read it in an effort to curb the chest puffing and delusions. We are unionized, hourly paid, ASM production workers. Yes, we’re highly skilled professionals and are well compensated. There is no shame in being blue collar. And you is.

Ok, which one is it? 10 years, or 16?

Default Circle of pilot

I'm a true captain. I'm going to be the last one off the ship and I'm going to say that if i have one day take another interview lol. Everyone acts like our careers will sink with the ship. No, I get off last and move to another place but I want everyone above me to leave and get them apps out 😉 I enjoy getting called for 3 flights in a month and stacking lots of captain cash. It's so terrible that I have to leave 😞. If spirit sticks around or merges, I can retire to Colombia in 5 yrs and run my side gigs from my compound with 5 beautiful girls. I still have one 15+ yrs to fly(+ or -). I have lots of friends with buddy passes so i can travel the world while i wait for the next flying job. The only people on here talking doom and gloom are the ones at other airlines with no money. One day I'm senior, next your senior, and then I'm senior again. It's the circle of airline life and I imagine its all poor people or new heads that are trying to bash lol. You missed one but more to come 😆

Epstein files are wide reaching. Especially for airlines/investors/politicians in south Florida.

With only 10 years seniority, a guy will be lucky to not get furloughed the next round.

visit with some of our FO’s who got rejected from legacies for not enough time and rejected from regionals for too much time. Then rejected from classier part 135 because they are Arline guys. Guys have had apps out for years and nothing. All working under reserve rules that really inhibit any extra flying so they just keep getting stuck deeper and deeper and more and more depressed sitting in a crash pad day after day.

moral with the bottom part of the pilot group is generally in the dumps.
Im one of them , running out of options and not sure what to do . I even applied for direct entry Captain spots at the regionals and don’t hear anything back .

Hang in there. United and American just stated hiring again, and plan to do big numbers for the duration.

Point taken, I was only thinking of top two thirds and I did not consider those with less time. I have been furloughed and although it was short it was extremely unpleasant, as you accurately described, to be short on time and essentially gatekept from improving my situation while those senior to me vacuumed up every minute of open time to gorge themselves. Endless and pointless short calls stuck at a crashpad grind the soul
