I also earnestly believe and hope that you will have a soft landing at AA or UA Flat408 and even though you’re staring down the barrel right now the flood gates are about to open again

Point taken, I was only thinking of top two thirds and I did not consider those with less time. I have been furloughed and although it was short it was extremely unpleasant, as you accurately described, to be short on time and essentially gatekept from improving my situation while those senior to me vacuumed up every minute of open time to gorge themselves. Endless and pointless short calls stuck at a crashpad grind the soul

That being said, these furloughed pilots aren’t getting recalled. Let’s be real, and more furloughs are to come. This isn’t the same as a recession where all airlines are hurting and furloughing; this is different.
Any NK guys on here picking up open time? And swapping is still picking up open time. Just curious.

Delta should be pumping out some large numbers starting late this year or early next year. Granted a lot of those initial classes have already been interviewed and are sitting in the pool, but they have also started sending out assessment invites (first step in the interview process) so hopefully we'll grab as many as we can who want to leave Spirit for here.

But this is a Spirit thread so I won't post any more on this. Either way if someone wants out then they should be shotgunning their apps everywhere, Delta included. Good luck to everyone.

My buddy that’s a Checkairman at United said they plan to hire between 2000-2500 next year depending on aircraft deliveries. American is actively hiring right now and I’ve heard over a thousand next year, same with Delta. Maybe an American or Delta guy in here can confirm. SWA is hiring 140 in November and December mostly out of CJO’s previously handed out in late 23-24. Rumor is maybe 600 next year. Hang in there brother. I’ve met several Spirt pilots and they were all solid dudes. Hoping everyone there has a soft landing somewhere.

We’re no less labor/blue collar than those who flew the line 50 years ago. In fact, 50 years ago airline deregulation had yet to occur and airline pilots enjoyed a relatively lofty existence in public perception. The 80s taught our profession painful lessons, a comeuppance. But please keep your head in the sand (and your head up a dark cavity) and believe you enjoy wages and working conditions commensurate with your gifts to aviation, rather than the hard work and solidarity of your fellow pilots and their predecessors. With any luck your contemporaries won’t be as foolish and disrespectful.
