well we need to find more ways to lose more money. I guess DH reserves back to DFW on OAL that are usually oversold is a good way to really cost us more money….

In fairness, we have a long history of crews overnighting at other bases. Come to think of it, other airlines do, too.

that’s a different subject entirely.

bases serve many purposes, including operational recovery, and quality of life to draw and keep talent. But as we plummet to the bottom and we lose some very good pilots to legacies I guess this matters no longer. We are more and more of a stepping stone and not a career airline. This is not a good place to be as a company. Imagine financially where we would be if we hired based on growth and not attrition?

in my opinion living in base at spirit is far better than commuting to anyone else but there is zero chance I would commute for spirit. So if another displacement puts me out of my base and we don’t open new bases that don’t suck it makes the decision for me because I don’t want to live in other bases we have. Sure I’d move short term but I’m out.

Your threat to leave has made a difference. I can feel it in my plums the company retreating on its plans to close bases.

Yes it makes absolutely no difference if it’s just me. But I’m not alone. Spirit has made it not really worth moving or commuting for.

if I were to guess I bet it gets worse for commuters as they try to find ways to cut costs.

How would a merger with Frontier work as far as contract integration goes? Would it just be under F9s?

Same as any ALPA/ALPA merger. Both pilot groups would work under their respective CBA’s while a JCBA is negotiated.

What you don’t understand is they want more people to leave. We aren’t recalling any time soon. They need more attrition to avoid more furloughs as we shrink

Have you been a pilot for a day and a half?
