Assuming the recalls actually happen, what does everyone think the chances are to get FLL, or are the open slots going to be ACY? I know the senior guys are there by choice, but does anyone know who would bid back to FLL?

I think it really depends on how many recalls there are. If you see more than 10 or so, i think there will be a few slots in FLL. There are quite a few guys I know in ACY who are line holders saying they are going to stay up there until they can hold a line in FLL since they are commuting either way.

I would rather also hold a good line in ACY than being on reserve in FLL. But that's just me.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I live near DTW, so it would be really inconvenient to get ACY. I would get more days off, but the lines are not as commuter freindly in ACY. And nothing more than 2 day trips means a crash pad with a car. Just weighing my options.

If you're planning on returning from furlough I would plan on being in ACY for a LONG time. If there are any FLL vacancies they will most likely be taken by active pilots prior to the recall awards being assigned....as has been the case the last few times. They have been running recall classes about once every six months, and the last one was so small most guys couldn't bid out of ACY that wanted to.

I am in the top 5 furloughs, I took a voluntary furlough. So I have more seniority than most of the ACY guys. I would be top 10 there. I just need to have multiple months of recalls, as I would be put in ACY for a month, but able to bid out the next month when a new positon opened up in FLL (or DTW ha ha). I am trying to get a feel for the wild swings in numbers (from 24+ to now maybe only 6?) and whether the recalls are going to be multiple months in a row, or slow and I get stuck there like you said.

I agree with Poker Pro, if there are a lot then I 'll have a good chance.

From what I was told, 6 guys left since January. Are more leaving for the sand dunes?

I doubt if this call even happens, it will be a multiple month recall. As a matter of fact, I doubt we will see a multiple month recall for a long while.

1. Arrival of planes: 2nd plane is coming April 7th. They have not called for that plane or else people would be in training already. So basically the first 2 planes did not result in a single recall albeit that we are below pre Dec 08 staffing levels. 3rd plane is coming end of May. >>>IF<<< they need folks to fly that, they will need them effective June. The last plane is coming in September which is the start of the slow season. If they need pilots to fly that last one, they will not need them until the end of the year, perhaps effective December. The September plane may save them the usual voluntary furlough if even that.

2. Seasonality: Whatever they need for June, will almost cover July, and August. Probably just short for July and August but it will do it.

3. Negotiations: Whatever effect the negotiations will have it will show starting effective July. That is based on this predicted May 8th release. The effect on staffing post negotiations is of course completely unknown to either party. However it is not hard to see that whatever effect there will be it will not result in more pilots. It will be either the same staffing (unlikely) or somewhat lower level of staffing (very likely IMHO) or drastically lower levels (highly unlikely).

All the above tells me no two recalls in a row so you might as well take it now and swallow the pill or be ready to do another year or at least until the end of this year. I hope I will be wrong.

I thought they've called pretty much everyone above the JAN08 hire list, and that the next call starts at the second half of JAN08 and beyond. Who knows!! they havent updated that list in a while.

Rumor: (6 upgs, 12 recalls)

1) I dont know when the letters and or calls are going out.
2) I dont know where the vac are going to be.
3) It could be to start trng at the end of APR, like last yrs first recall.

Best of luck, and I hope it holds water!!
