We got to send a clear message to these clowns...

Yea, and that message should be "don't throw away our contract, it's the only thing protecting us against C9000".

You did mean the MEC didn't you?

What part of "the only way the company can impose C9000 is if we give it to them" do you not understand?

Last I heard was a possible total loss. Not sure if that is true or not because just like everyone knows, the only info we get at Spirit is rumors.

Just talked with a DTW mechanic....he said the airplane is in Rome, NY getting the landing gear replaced. The plan right now is for it to be back flying in a few weeks. Its costing the company A LOT of money (in the millions) to get it back up in the air.

Thanks for the info. It is a big deal for us still on the street, especially for those close to a recall. If they are actually spending money on it, that should mean it will be back. If it is a few weeks they could still use it for the summer traffic increase.

A single bird means 14.4-15.7 pilot positions at NK depending on weather you include the non flying, on leave, management, training etc pilots into the equation or not. Of course that is only as accurate as the last bid package was. That plane alone is worth another round of recalls. I have been suspecting a 3rd round to cover the summer increase that starts with June. Last year June had a 4% increase in block hours over May, and a 7% increase in a/c utilization. Of course we have no clue if 2008 mirrors 2009. If it does, I was thinking about 12-20 recalls. But for the record, that was completely based on number crunching, not on any factual info, not even on rumors. However when I've heard that we may lose that plane... If they have thought about a 3rd round, I guess they decided against it, or put it on hold until they know more. As it is now, a vacancy bid should have been out long time ago for any recalls for June. So it is not looking good.

As far as responding to the idiotic posts here, or elsewhere. I think we must. Folks are actually reading these websites and the "vote NO" agenda is pushed very hard here and elsewhere. It is to the point where I am thinking the spiritpilots site has to be run by management. Because even if anyone is anti current MEC, now that a vote is out, and it is obvious that it will pass, it is plain self destructive to vote against it. How is this not common sense?

They have registered like 3 new user names over on the other web forum just to keep pushing a NO vote. "a_FLL_Captain" is my prime suspect for running the place although he keeps a somewhat neutral tone, except when he melts down during his bipolar moments. He is the only person with a strangely high karma despite my bud's efforts to bomb his karma down. At each login he bombs him yet that dude is still in the positive. How is that possible? That one is manipulated for sure. It is almost amusing to watch it until you realize that this really hurts us. People go on the net for info. Too bad ALPA thinks a union sponsored webforum would result in legal action. I don't see why but I guess they know better.

I have talked to some friends who are tending toward a YES, but are on the fence. It has been said before: Those who think they are not sure, or even if you are sure, go and talk to your union. Call them! They will explain you exactly what are the implications of a YES or a NO. This vote is the single most important thing a typical union member can do for his own future before starting to actually volunteer. So do think about this vote, do you homework, and make an intelligent decision just like you do every day when you fly the darn plane.

That board is run by and loaded with the old MEC and their buddies. There are a few guys over there with multiple screen names to make it seem as if the minority opinion has much more support than it actually does. Believe ABSOLUTELY NOTHING that you read on that board....the info is extremely inaccurate and one sided. Their agenda has nothing at all to do with a strike vote....they are trying to undermine and destroy the current MEC. Unfortunately they have chosen to do so at the worst possible time. They are using their strike vote as a weapon against their fellow pilots instead of a weapon against the company. The good news is they are the extreme minority here. They may vote as they see fit, and even if they chose to use their vote to try and prove a point to the MEC, I dont think it will be enough to significantly sway the outcome.

Thanks for this post!! Until a few weeks ago, I thought it was a majority of the pilot group and it made me even more embarrased to be working for this airline. for those of us who were pretty new and didn't make friends fast enough we have no real connection to "normal" pilots in the company. I refuse to even load that page anymore.

If the ex-mec were true leaders they would come out and get behind the current mec. They don't have to necessarily agree with everything the current mec is doing. They need to realize and actually care that we will falter if not unified. We have a chance to make significant gains but can only do so if we're all together.
