the economy does not matter to the outcome of a contract. look at delta and united. they got an awsome contract during the peak of the economy and gave it all way after 911 during bankruptcy. they gave away good work rules for higher pay. only after bankruptcy to be left with crappy pay and crappy work rules. we gave away pay and work rules. now its time to get them back. VOTE YES. we could wait 2 years for the economy to turn around and still be in the same spot as delta and united did.

You've given many reasons not to vote yes. Here's what happens when you vote no:

The Company will assume we are fractured and weak. They will not attempt any further negotiations, and may seek release on their own so that they may implement 9000.

If you are serious about your future, and your fellow pilots, you will vote yes. I stand by my assertion that a no vote signifies:

1. Fear
2. Misunderstanding
3. A political axe to grind.
You only wish that I lead the resistance. You're making the same mistakes Herb made, you're only listening to your political allies. You all jumped on the "we want to walk out" bandwagon without building your foundation and I'm calling you on it. If you become effective in your argument, we will have both won.

If I announce that I am voting yes, you will still have resistance.

Let me say it this way. Your problem is NOT politics. You have not proven your case. Prove your case, and you'll win. I will vote yes when I am convinced that this is the right decision.

I've been defending us, ALPA and our profession on this board longer than you've been a member. see my tagline.

You can vote however the heck you want.....WHO CARES!! We are gonna get the 50% +1 anyway so go ahead, vote no, lower the yes percentage a bit, make some enemies along the way....and in the end....I'll see ya on the picket line!

Nice bit of chest thumpin Captscott, but it does matter. If we don't get a huge majority, we're sunk.

The torpedo hit the water the minute we decided to put it all on the line with a strike vote, our goal now should be to avoid the torpedo or have it hit the least vulnerable part of the ship.

When the MEC stops believing that all opposition is purely political and starts addressing the real concerns of the silent majority, then we WILL get a huge, overwhelming YES vote.

I'll help by getting out of this string to allow them to focus on building a credible threat instead of just building a facade.

Guy's use the truce wisely.

PS, "credible threat" means - a pilot group that shows unity of action and shows a large volunteer force of selfless pilots willing to make something happen. A large rally with a large attendence would be a good start.

PPS, "facade" means - a strong strike vote with no army marching behind it. An LEC meeting with 17 people there is NOT a good start. No, I wasn't there, I was on an overnight in NY.

For my Furlough Colleagues.

Mike A. and P.O. stopped by yesterday during recurrent.

Sun Country is done covering for us.

The broken plane in St. Thomas during a hard landing, back in srvc in a few days. Cost was like 3.6 mil.

No Airplanes for a while, 2010 unless they find one or two before the end of the yr.

The bldng were we did our gnd school is Completely empty, except for the mock up room, and two classrooms. No computers, no sims, no cafeteria. They are saving money on the lease by putting everyone together in the front (main) bldg.

They say the company IS making money, but still can't get credit for AC's nor they have the cash as of now for deposit.

And, from both of them, no more recalls for a while. (don't be discourage, things change fast). 4-6 upgrades coming up in MAY will not result in recalls.

Also our MEC was there, it seems that they are actually working hard to fix this whole mess, to fight against this mgmt is not an easy task, after looking at how they keep this whole operation running.

One thing is for sure, any sing of unity in our side will be worth millions, whether you vote yes or no, we need to show that we are in the same team.

I hope this helps someone. I'll post as we go.

Sailor.

Thanks for the update. Same stuff BBB told us in recurrent in November. The only difference was he said our A320 orders were deferred until 2011.
Glad 525 will be back on the line, and hope AIG took care of the bill.
Have fun up there in ACY...

Just to add what Sailor said about the bid coming out. They said that they are going to reduce FLL FO's by the number of upgrades, so those hoping to get back to FLL soon isn't going to happen.

I got the same info after sending out some emails. At least now I know and I can finally start looking into other things rather than waiting for the next month. I hope they will get some planes eventually. I am starting to really miss flying the bus.
