Quote: If the ex-mec were true leaders they would come out and get behind the current mec. They don't have to necessarily agree with everything the current mec is doing. They need to realize and actually care that we will falter if not unified. We have a chance to make significant gains but can only do so if we're all together.
If the current MEC were true leaders, they would have come out and gotten behind their MEC two years ago instead of running recalls. After all, that NC had agreements on 29 sections, with only pay and prefbid to go.

You're reps threw away those sections which included the significant gains that you now seek. That work product, the result of over a year of bargaining, was thrownout for purely political reasons and you now have the balls to act as if the old MEC is somehow working against the group.

You would like to turn this into a "tit for tat" personal conflict. It is not.
A large number of Spirit pilots are opposed to a walkout because of numerous reasons, first of which is that the group is NOT prepared.

Other significant reasons for opposing a walk out at this time are:

Not one of those reasons is political. No one is running a recall, their is no political campaign underway, nothing. The only political thing going on is your attempt to paint all opposition with a dirty brush so that you can win your selfish battle. Yes, I said selfish. Those of you who are demanding that everyone fall on their sword are selfish.
I've made my last post on that board... washed my hands of it

we'll see how this all shakes out soon enough

You can't win there, so your running here? good luck with that.
Quote: that NC had agreements on 29 sections,
Agreements? Who agreed to what? Was it binding? Of course not. So it was not an agreement. It was a wish list. The company carrot that was pulled after it has served it's purpose. Get over it. It was never meant to happen so it can hardly be called an achievement. Do you seriously believe they were going to give you that contract for a pref bid without a fight? Without a strike? You need to go play more board games against BB if you really believe that.

It is rough to win when they ban you from a forum when you question the motive behind it. Of course that will never happen to you. Right? Since you must be deeply involved. You people make me sick.

When you start to belittle and antagonize people, it's a sure sign that you are just afraid they will see through your b.s.

At least I can debate a topic without trying to use personal jabs to punctuate a weak point.

Your skin is a little thin my friend.

I've been posting on here for years, my record of defending the profession is clear. (ask skyhigh)

Just because you can't defend your desire to walk out doesn't mean that my points are weak.
The agreed TA'd sections of the previous NC probably would have passed if the company actually followed through with the pay proposal. If I'm not mistaken, those sections were absolutely contingent upon a high proposal. Since the company didn't follow through, yes you are correct in the current MEC yanking them.

We have been in negotiations for 2.5 yrs now, about the same time as SWA and Alaska who just agreed to a TA and sent the vote for membership ratification. Funny how they did all this in a bad economy like you said. Just shows that our management will not move forward until their hand is forced.

To me, the truly selfish people here are going to vote NO because they are comfortable in the left seat and could care less about those in the right seat.
              Where is that former MEC?

              忽 而 ?????

Stang, how long did the 2007 NC work on the actual pay negotiation?

I'll tell you, the entire time that that committee negotiated pay was spent under the sceptre of a political changeover. The incoming reps (except the FLL FO Rep) were telling thier buddies that they were pulling all of the TA's.

The company was NOT going to offer pay, much to Russo's chagrin, when the incoming reps were promising to pull the TA's.

This opinion that the MEC pulled them because the company failed to respond is pure poppycock. The ALPA lawyer pulled training and scheduling (before the new reps even took office) when spirit failed to meet his deadline for a pay counter, but the rest remained. The incoming MEC could have, should have, sent their negotiators in and NEGOTIATED. We will never know what might have happened had the union negotiators gone in with the power of their huge election win and used that advantage to get the money offer. They came into office with a huge mandate and threw that advantage away. I thought that they would succeed, I even thought that they were just who we needed to finish off the contract. I thought that they were right for the time.
