What is up with people these days and their cellphones/social media?
'We're on fire, love you.'
I understand the average John Doe doesn't understand engine fires/failures and that an aircraft can still fly and land. But sending that message to the wife will induce more panic and stop time for her until she hears from you again. Why do that to her? You should tell your family you love them before you go out on a trip anyway. This kind of thing will just induce more panic and more lawsuits.

The scariest part of this story is that there were 145 passengers on an A319.

"But Allegiant is going for a very specific type of A319. It is leasing all 10 of Cebu Pacific’s airplanes along with 9 that were operated by easyJet. What’s so special about these? They have two overwing exit doors on each side while just about all the others have one. Why the difference? Well, the additional exits mean they can jam in extra seats above and beyond 145. Allegiant will operate these airplanes with 156 seats."
From Airbus:
"In addition to the standard 124-seat configuration with a range of up to 3,740 nautical miles, Airbus offers an option with a seating capacity of up to 156 passengers – a version that is being ordered by an increasing number of low-cost airlines. "

From the flight aware data it looks like they had climbed through FL200 and made a safe air return while dealing with a line of weather.
The crew deserves all of our support and kudos during the next few weeks and month's while the investigation is completed.
I'm proud to work and fly with these guys.

Nomination of our CA and FO reps for FLL happened lasts night, the most powerful positions on the MEC (the most votes if an issue is taken to a roll call).
Remember, we have something like 250 or so pilots based in FLL, and some say they are dissatisfied with the current direction of the MEC. Ask someone who went about the meeting.

Woman on flight from Florida becomes ill and is pronounced dead at Logan Airport - Metro - The Boston Globe
A woman in her 20s became ill and died while flying from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to Boston on Monday, according to Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley’s office.
The woman was a passenger on Spirit Airlines flight 610, which landed at Logan Airport around 1:30 p.m. on Monday.
According to Conley’s office, the woman became ill after the plane was airborne, slipped into unconsciousness, and was pronounced dead at Logan by first responders, including Boston Emergency Medical Services.
Jake Wark, a spokesman for Conley, identified the woman as a 24-year-old Quincy resident, adding that her name is not being released because her death is not considered suspicious.
