How about we make it non-anonymous? I bet it would be more civil and transparent. Don't allow any management pilots to register.

Anonymous is better, especially for the Tourette's poster-children who can't control what they say. If you think there are no line pilots moonlighting as management lickspittles, toadies or sycophants and passing passing stuff on "private" message boards to Miramar, you are living in a fantasy world.

You got to be kidding me. Non-Anonymous? When was the last time you signed your name to a post?

You only get honesty with anonymity. This MEC seems to be on a search and destroy. Say the wrong thing and woops, sorry that NOI didn't work out for you.

Bravo to Spiritpilotboard.com, Ill be happy to pay too. Im surprised the last board never asked for money. No advertising. It was someone's out of pocket.

At my previous carrier, we had a non-anonymous message board. It worked fine. It tends to temper a lot of the blowhards when they can't hide. I'd have no problem with it personally. Speak truth to power and all that.

We did too at my last job. Our Pro Standards chair told me 85% of his work load involved disputes that originated on the board and migrated to email, telephone and/or the flight planning room. Plus, several guys got fired for message board activities-something about posting proprietary company information online. There may be some validity to what you say but the lack of an actual human "interface" still emboldens a lot of people to talk big.

Anonymity is a self-fulfilling prophesy.

A conspiracy theorist feels the MEC is after him, so needs anonymity. Once anonymous, they speak about the need to hide from the MEC and spread vitriol without consequence, fulfilling the need to now remain anonymous, lest their comments be attributed to them.

Anonymity allows the truth to come out, but these nuggets of truth are found within a soup of vitriol, making it difficult to glean fantasy from reality.

Well said. I guess it all depends on whether these message boards are used more for entertainment or whether we actually want them to be legitimate sources to disseminate information.

What a dirty trick Tony! You are still the Chair till you resign right?
So just because the 3 reps happen to be off that day, they decide to schedule a vote AFTER the bids came out AND you need to be present at the meeting in LAS to vote when the MAJORITY of 77 pilots are based in DFW smells VERY ROTTEN to me. Typical MEC dirty politics we've seen over and over throughout the many years! I suggest that every 77 pilot write ALPA Membership ([email protected]) and complain about this! Demand a vote in DFW as well!
Remember, the Interim Captain Rep will have a vote in the National President's election. So the Interim Rep does matter.

Hey newbies, starting to get it now?
